DO YOU WANT YOUR LIFE TO BE PERFECT?

We're all laboring under our own and society's expectations to be perfect in every way-to look younger, to make more money, to be happy all the time. But according to Tal Ben-Shahar, the New York Times bestselling author of Happier, the pursuit of perfect may actually be the number-one internal obstacle to finding happiness.

OR DO YOU WANT TO BE HAPPY?

Applying cutting-edge research in the field of positive psychology-the scientific principles taught in his wildly popular course at Harvard University-Ben-Shahar takes us off the impossible pursuit of perfection and directs us to the way to happiness, richness, and true fulfillment. He shows us the freedom derived from not trying to do it all right all the time and the real lessons that failure and painful emotions can teach us.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE PERFECT TO BE PERFECTLY HAPPY!

In The Pursuit of Perfect, Tal Ben-Shahar offers an optimal way of thinking about failure and success--and the very way we live. He provides exercises for self reflection, meditations, and “Time-Ins” to help you rediscover what you really want out of life.

4.0 out of 5 stars Unexpectedly apt... 13 Jun 2009
By pacem et amorem VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
When I ordered this I didn't actually realise what it really was, thinking it was another of those books about the flaws in modern society etc. What I didn't realise is that it's a book aimed at those of us who have a tendency towards perfectionism, a tendency that can be unfortunate and potentially crippling. The more I read this book the more I realised I had made a good decision in ordering it - even just for the interesting and often inspiring quotes at the beginning of each chapter.

As a fellow perfectionist, the author will guide you through approaches to coping with your unfortunate personality trait and will help you not only come to terms with it but find ways to develop better, more positive attitudes to life and living.

An unexpected hit on my bookshelf. Why don't you make space for it on yours!

5.0 out of 5 stars Manage the perfect driver in you 29 Jan 2010
By Paul Madge HALL OF FAME TOP 10 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
This book is truly therapeutic and has helped me take a huge step forward in dealing with the less than perfect world we live in, the less than perfect house I live in and the imperfect car I drive. In doing so it has reduced my anxiety level and boosted my enjoyment of life. A very good book indeed.

4.0 out of 5 stars A self-help book for perfectionists! 14 Oct 2009
By TheLibrarian TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
As a perfectionist I was very interested in this book. For a while I have been aware that whilst my perfectionist tendencies help in some areas of my life they cause big problems in others. This book basically examines the pros and cons of being a perfectionist and looks at ways you can keep the pros and get rid of the cons. I found it a fascinating book and will be recommending it to others. I especially liked the fact that it is very readable, but does have some depth unlike a lot of self-help books.
