Format:Audio CD
There is no doubt in my mind that Ed Alleyne Johnson is one of the music worlds best kept secrets. A master of his self-built 6-string electric violin, his first two releases rank very highly in my music collection. He followed these up with two 'pop' albums with his wife Denyze. I found these to be very disappointing affairs, bordering on annoying as the vocals just got in the way of the music. The same could be said of Purple Electric 2 were Ed returns to the classical style of the first 2 albums. Denyze is credited on the reverse as 'Choir' which means we have "ahhh-ing" over many of the tracks. This is particulary annoying as the musicianship of Ed is again faultless. The needless vocals just ruin the effect for me as they are so distracting. Seek out his first 2 albums for his finest work.

If you haven't heard the first album(concerto 1), you might think this album is OK. But if you have heard and enjoyed the first album you'll be sorely disappointed with this. Some old stuff is redone badly, the vocals are wishy washy and well, buy it if you want but I wished I hadn't.

It's a fantastic creation! This second concerto is very "mature". The presence of Denyze 's magical voice gives a sense of a ceremony. The whole result causes great excitement. Someone who has already got the previous concerto CD will feel this one getting him deeper. A must have music CD for all New Age music fans.
