Format:Audio CD
With Hed Kandi's Beach House series having run out of steam and having bought pretty much everything by Cielo (see my review of their latest offering:Cielo - Paradizo 2) I was beginning to wonder where I was going to go next to unearth some more quality, cool, laid-back house.
In the absence of any better ideas and not wishing to end up with a tacky chart compilaton I thought I'd invest some time in rating my Amazon purchases and see what recommendations came up. Up popped Purobeach Volumen Seis and, knowing nothing about it whatsoever, I took a punt. Well I'm glad I did because it's awesome!
Turns out Puro is a boutique hotel in Mallorca which has branched out into beach clubs and has a couple of compilation series on Seamless Records. Vol 6 (see, I speak the lingo) of the Purobeach collection is a two disc offering - one daytime, one nightime, which merge seamlessly. If, like me, you're into the (early) Beach House, Es Vive, Cafe Mambo etc compilations this'll be right up your street.
It really is a classy effort and I look forward to seeing what Amazon recommends next!

I am also a fan of Cielo's compilation series and after reading Bri's review I took the plunge and purchased this album and I have absolutely no regrets whatsoever. Although fairly recent and with a modern Cielo/Fred Everything twist, this album takes me back and reminds me of the old Cafe Mambo and Cafe del Mar original albums when Pete Gooding (for Cafe Mambo) and Jose Padilla and Bruno were the masters of selecting the tracks. CD1 is very varied and alternative and takes you through a musical journey where CD2 is more uplifting while still grabbing you and getting to the heart of you. I absolutely love the Soneec. Lauer & Canard track 'The Making of You' featuring another blast from the past Robert Owens, and also the great 'M U S I C' by Lovebirds. Vincenzo that samples D Train's 'Music'! There's lots of 'samey' compilation CD's out there that disappoint - this CD is not one of them and the tracks are wonderful. Add this to your collection now!
