Great debut from new band Lethargy. Heavily championed by Classic Rock magazine, indeed, this is where I first encountered them, when I read the albums review. Liking what I was reading I decided to buy the album without hearing a track, this turned out to be a very good decision.
Excellent guitar work, heavy and riffy throughout with just the right amount of understatement in places to break it up. The vocals though are where I was truly grabbed, powerful whilst staying clean, emotive when necessary and always superb. Those of you looking for comparisons would do well to think of artists such as the late great Layne Staley and the incredible John Bush.
First track 'Stealth' reminds me very much of Bush era Anthrax from a vocal point of view and is a fantastic opener, leaving you drooling at the thought of whats to come. 'Inertia' and 'Bleachin bones' will hilight quite nicely the Alice In Chains reference from earlier in the review, great crunchy guitar riffs and stunning vocals.
'I see mans end in his construction' and 'Fragile crystal dream' are an unexpected break from the crunch, but nonetheless welcome, giving you a chance to see this band from a different angle. They're placement in the running order works perfectly, giving you time to breathe before its back on the juice again.
There really isn't a bad track on this album, and plenty to appeal to people of many hard rock and metal persuasions. Try the sample tracks to get a taste, then put it in your basket, buy it and enjoy. I will be waiting anxiously for future releases and look forward to catching them live A.S.A.P.
