Product Description

The USB and SD connectors are built into one device so you no longer have to carry two dongles. With the iPad Camera Connection Kit, it's incredibly easy to download photos from your digital camera to your iPad so you can view them on the gorgeous iPad display and share them with family and friends. The Camera Connector features a USB interface. Just plug it into the dock connector port on your iPad, then attach your digital camera or iPhone using a USB cable (not included). iPhone 3G is not supported. Use the SD Card Reader to import photos directly from your camera's SD card. Connect it to your iPad, then insert your digital camera's SD card into the slot. After you make the connection, your iPad automatically opens the Photos app, which lets you choose which pictures to import, then organizes the selected photos into albums. When you sync iPad to your PC or Mac, the photos on your iPad are added to your computer's photo library.

Since I've upgraded my iPad OS to version 4.2 the card reader no longer works - on inserting an SD card a 'not enough power to run USB device' message appears. I can still download images using the camera's USB lead, but obviously this is slower and less convenient.

On Googling, the problem appears to be down to the OS, so Apple may address the issue with a later build.

I orded the connector over the weekend and it arrived on Tuesday so very good postage time.

having read previous reviews claiming this was only going to work with the USB cable and not the SD card due to OS updates i bought with the full knowledge that this would only work with USB and that was fine with me. When it arrived, today, i thought i would try it out with the SD card just to make sure. To my surprise it worked first time, and uploaded photos and videos to my iPad with no problem. Don't know if this makes a difference but I am running OS 4.3.3 and I used a sandisk extreme 3 card.

Never reviewed anything before but thought it was important to update the reviews here as they are inaccurate and may stop people buying a very reasonably priced gadget that seems to work well

Item was received quickly I had a small problem
with the connector plugging into the i-pad but aftera few attempts
this item worked fine.
Please note that it displays that the item is not compatable with the i-pad
but it is .
I suggest a small note in the box to tell customers this

The connection kit worked well until I upgraded the software on my iPad. Now, error messages appear suggesting that the unit takes up too much power or that Apple products do not support it. A reboot of the iPad has not made any difference. Neither will it work in any of my friends' and family's iPads. Unfortunately - now worthless!

I read the other reviews too late. This item does NOT work with the iPad running the latest version of software. This and similar products should be withdrawn from sale on Amazon. AVOID!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is one workaround. You can connect your camera to the 2-in-1 via a USB cable. Then it does work. But the SD card slot doesn't.

This was excellent but with the latest iPad software there is not enough power coming from the port and the iPad will not recognise or function with this device, such a pity as it was good before the iPad software update

Seller is very attentive... full marks to them. They provided an adaptor for the SD card half and it works perfectly. USB needs a powered source. Doesn't work for non-powered devices such as midi keyboards, Flash drives etc.
