Product Description

On October 18th, dockside at Undercurrent in Amsterdam - during the peak of ADE's annual takeover - dance pioneer Solarstone showcased his new audio axiom. In the packed-to-capacity club, withanticipation sky high, those lucky enough to have a begged, borrowed or bought a ticket were among the first to experience 'Pure Trance'. With that opening shot fired, the movement is ready to go global. Alongside fellow forerunner Orkidea, Solarstone has encapsulated this vision in mix-comp form. Featuring 25 exclusive tracks built from propellant beats, tremor-inducing LFO, iridescent melodies, sky-bound synths and heartfelt vocals, trance will be revised to its purest degree. 'This isn t about looking back. It s about stepping forward. It's not about trance s history or genealogy. It's about stripping away the music's unwarranted add-ons; restoring trance's most vibrant and essential elements and making the genre we love timeless.' - Solarstone. MIXMAG, DECEMBER 2012 - ALBUM OF THE MONTH - 'Pure Trance is just part of the genre's labyrinthine make-up. To counterbalance every trouse or trancestep variation though, it's a very valuable one'

Apparently, it's quite hard to actually find trance albums these days. I assume that this may be one reason why Solarstone has set up the 'Pure Trance' guise, so that, quite simply, lovers of trance know where they stand. Many so-called 'trance' albums these days aren't actually trance... "new trance" is actually electro, and anyone who tells me that it is trance should first listen to this album.
So, if you're in doubt, I can confirm this is indeed trance music. And overall it's a pretty good album, and provides listeners with a decent selection of what's out there in the actual (not the fake) trance world at the moment. And only one track has a horrible pitchbend in it (see Anjunabeats 10 review) which is, probably not by coincidence, the worst track (No Man's Land - watch out, it spoils the album).
By and large, we're presented with a trance mixture as opposed to a trance mix. Those who like their album mixed may be disappointed, and in places this makes it a little disjointed. Most trance albums are mixed, but this is an exception, and I'm not sure I like it.
Nevertheless, the tracks themselves are of most importance and overall they are good. We have classic trance in all its forms, with some focusing on driving basslines and beats, others with dreamy, uplifting yet emotional trance vocals like the brilliant Lemon (track 3, CD1). Perhaps my other favourite is Vueltas by Steve Brian, a really melodic number but with a really energetic body to it. I also love the 2012 remix of Solarstone's Seven Cities; the original was one of those tracks that got me into trance in the first place.

The Tale of Two CDs 3 Mar. 2014

If I could have a soundtrack to my life, Solarstone would be the man responsible for making it. His track selections and Pure Mixes have yet to disappoint me, and his A-side tracklist is a fabulous example of his skills. On the B-side, Orkidea is given the follow-up duties, and he performs phenomenally by bringing a more relaxed, harmonic trance selection that blends energy and tranquility, resulting in one of the best compilation albums in my collection.
Take a ride on the Voyager with Solarstone, he will lift you up with some awesome Pure Trance! 10 Oct. 2013

This is a great Trance CD since you get to hear two different styles of Trance, very enjoyable mixes. If you like Pure an earlier realease by Solarstone last year than this CD is way better. I rated Solarstone a four because he included some tracks from his previous CD Pure. Orkidea I gave him a five since his Trance style eventhough it was different than Solarstone it was great to listen too. All the songs were just awesome!! I recently saw both DJ's at my club and had an epic Trance night with both DJ's.

This is a great CD to own and to be added to your collection if your a Trance addict like I am. It is upbeat and continues as well. Much much better then most of the Trance albums now days which are mostly Trouse and techy. This is the way Trance albums are suppose to be. Thank you...
