A nice bit of kit, this. Looks great, and is very well put together as you'd expect for a premium-priced product such as this. The controls are easy to use, and nicely laid out. It's a versatile radio having both DAB and FM, so you can still listen to those stations that are yet to move over to DAB, and offers both mains and battery operation. Sound quality is good, but inevitably limited in depth to some degree as any radio this size would be. While DAB is superior to FM in terms of clarity and definition, the FM reception is still very good, rather than being just a bolted-on afterthought. Stereo separation is negligible, obviously, with the speakers being so close together, but does provide a better sound-stage than mono only, and using headphones it would prove worthwhile. Also, the number of stations I am able to receive is actually far greater than expected (having checked local coverage in advance), so its ability to pick up weak signals is another plus.Seemed like quite a lot of money to pay for a radio at first, but this one has definitely won me over.

A lot of digital radios appear old-fashioned in design - I wanted one that is contemporary, and good quality. Pure seemed the best from all the reviews I could find, and I'm really pleased. Having both DAB and FM tuners is great. The LCD display can show rolling text for each station, such as show details and email details - excellent value for money, and this comes highly recommended.

Everyone seems to have overlooked this Pure product - all the comments on Pure products are the Bug and the various Evoke incarnations.If you want stereo sound from quality speakers, an aerial that picks up signals much better than the other three i tried, the option of true portability as the Elan can take batteries, 8 presets on DAB and a two year warranty, plus it looks modern compared to all that retro styling found elsewhere, and from the leading brand in DAB technology then look no further and go for this one. Top Top Quality at significantly less than £100
