Biography

Welcome to a happy accident: When Brian Molko - singer songwriter with bleak-hearted rock three piece, Placebo - began writing his band's seventh studio album, his intention was to sketch out enough tracks to make the B3 EP. What followed was a splurge of creativity and grand ambition that resulted in Loud Like Love, a release that marks Placebo as a band big on heart-scarred intimacy as ... 5.0 out of 5 stars Great single, great b-sides 1 Feb 2002
Format:Audio CD
At first listen I wasn't too keen on this song as it's certainly not as upbeat as some of Placebo's earlier singles (36 Degrees, Nancy Boy etc.), but the more I've listened to it the more I've grown to love it. The tempo is very slow and laidback but the track is, I find, extremely uplifting.
The b-sides are fantastic. "Mars Landing Party" is genius and possibly my favourite Placebo b-side ever. Sung completely in French the music is pure cheese but Brian's voice has never sounded better. Even as a Placebo fan, I'd be first to admit that his voice usually has a certain nasal quality to it, but not on this track where his voice is smooth and warm. And the lyrics are great fun if you speak French!
I definitely recommend this single to all Placebo fans and open-minded music fans everywhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, as ever! 24 Dec 2000
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
As always, Placebo have come up with the goods! Not only the wonderful Pure Morning, but two super b-sides, Leeloo, and Mars Landing Party. Pure Morning itself, the first single from "Without You I'm Nothing" is as worthy a single as any other from the album, based around a simple guitar loop, Molko's vocals are as divine as ever. A must buy for any Placebo fan.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ecstatic. 7 Oct 2000
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
This is a good song, but lacks the bounce and rythym of Nancy Boy. Then again, I think that every song Placebo now produce will be compared to Nancy Boy as that is and will be the greatest Placebo song of all time. This track is a more dirgy, with a more morbid view on the world. The guitars are slow, and Molko's singing is more of a 'I'm going to die so I may as well resign to it' type of thing. This is not something to listen to when you want to be happy.

5.0 out of 5 stars first single from WYIN 22 April 2005
By Benjy - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
The first single from the breakthrough album Without You I'm Nothing. Despite the success of Nancy Boy, Placebo didn't really break through onto radio playlists worldwide until this release. Pure Morning is a great song and a perfect decision as a first release. Backed by the cheeky french song 'Mars Landing Party' and the typical placebo instrumental 'Leeloo', it set the tone for what the world expected from Placebo, great singles in their own unique style.
