Product Description

One may mourn the Seventies, miss the glorious Eighties and consider the Nineties as a particularly undervalued decade. You could also simply slide Pure Heavy by Norwegians Audrey Horne into your CD player and get all of the missing rock eras delivered for free. With admirable energy, keen sense of strong hooks, fine licks and great melodies, this record rocks without detours directly into the heart of every fan of pure rock music. Timeless compositions from dynamic to bursting sounds and undisputed authenticity of the five musicians make Pure Heavy a real listening pleasure. The album rocks hard, but it also pays great attention to detail to the deep melodic aspects, in short, a veritable cornucopia of great songs.

Its great to hear a 'Metal' album that isn't all anger and aggression for a change.Theres bit of Maiden, Lizzy and the vocalist at times sounds abit like Ozzy at his very best before he destroyed his voice with drink. My only regret is that i didn't discover this band sooner because i love this.

I've been a fan of Audrey Horne since the first record, each release has seen the songwriting get better and better. One thing I have noticed the band has softened their sound over each record, but this doesn't distract from the fact that this is another really great record. Full of singalong choruses and great hooks. In my opinion there is not a bad song on the album, another plus as well is the fact Audrey Horne don't put the best song at the start and then they get weaker towards the end of the album, my particular faves come in a track 10 and 11 out of 13. Excellent band, excellent album, can't wait for the next

Not their heaviest, just pure heavy rock that stands alongside anything created by their illustrious classic rock forefathers. Superb musicianship, attitude, production and lyrics, make Pure Heavy a triumph from start to finish.

Well, listening to this is like a visit to the mid-80s and jolly good it is too. In fact if Audrey Horne had been punting this out then I'm sure they would have been a big name band.

So what's it sound like? Pretty much an amalgam of every successful band of that glorious hair metal time. There's definitely some Ozzy vocals in there - when he could sing that is. Iron Maiden? Yup, got one of their (soundalike) songs too. What else? Thin Lizzy, Leppard, Ratt and without a doubt we have Motley Crue of Girls, Girls, Girls era. All good to be honest and the only reason to drop a star is simply that this is more of a revisit of a musical period not pushing the genre further.

Overall though, a cracking album.

Will Audrey Horne ever make a bad or even a mediocre album? By this showing, probably not. I love this album, it's a bit of a departure from previous efforts, all the better for it I think. Think of if Audrey Horne had been listening to lots of T Rex, The Sweet etc before writing this album. Yeah, I know it sounds like it might be a bit weird, but it works. There are some great grooves in these tracks, and they are pretty diverse really too, although they all have a glam rock tinge to them, it's still Audrey Horne, it's still heavy, just re-invented!
