I guess like myself, many listeners might be buying this in order to replasce thier own back catalogue with CDs. I had "White Flames" on Vinyl and thought about replacing that - Then I saw this CD and thought well, most of the good tracks on that CD are on this one.
I'm pleased I bought this CD. I had no idea how bluesy Snowy could get. Some of the previously unreleased stuff is definately worth listening to. I have given this 5 stars, and they are all well deserved.

Snowy White deserves pride of place in any guitar-based rock/blues enthusiast's collection. As a guitarist, Snowy ranks with, or even ahead of, Clapton, Green and Knopfler yet, and despite stints with Thin Lizy and Pink Floyd, he never seems to have gained appropriate recognition.PURE GOLD is a good introduction to his solo material, ranging from the hit single 'Bird of Paradise' to the awesome, more recent 'In the Name of the Lord'. This collection emphasises the blues dimension in Snowy's music, necessarily understating the rock side. If you love PURE GOLD, you should try HIGHWAY TO THE SUN (more rock-orientated) or THAT CERTAIN THING (more pop-leaning). As well as a great guitarist, Snowy is a superb lead singer and composer. One last thing - Snowy White's music is so complex, professional and atmospheric that, to be appreciated in full, it needs to be heard on the best possible hi fi.

Snowy White has been one of those guitarists who has played with loads of famous bands and is a guitarist's guitarist, nice selection of his solo performances over the years
