A friend complained that £100 was a bit much to spend on a radio, but with this it's an absolute bargain, especially when compared with the analogue Roberts retro-style radios which cost as much but offer nowhere near as much.
The XT looks very much like it's predecessor, but losing the square corners gives it a classier feel. The white-on-blue LCD display is also an improvement and there are a couple of timer/alarm features which are a welcome addition.
But the real reason to love this radio is the sound. There's no tone control, but I've never once wanted one. The sound quality from the single speaker is tremendous, with plenty of bass but well balanced as well. And even better, it sounds fabulous through a hi-fi via the 3.5 mm stereo line out jack.
All those extra stations (you'll never want to listen to 5 Live on AM again), great sound quality, classy looks and plenty of features to mess with should the fancy take you - this is an absolute bargain at £100.
Price wise - Amazon are normally very competitive but this can be found cheaper elsewhere (I found it £20 cheaper in a high street chain shop!)
Certainly worth getting if you want clear radio.
There is a really good bass response from the radio which is amazing for the size of it. The blue display is very clear, and provides a lot of good information such as the programme, DJ, phone number for the station, what's coming up next etc.
The radio is really easy to use as all the stations are shown by name rather than frequency. I know that RDS radios have offered this feature for a long time now, but they are not perfect. There are 6 preset buttons for you to store your favourite stations, I would have preferred a few more presets, but as it is so easy to tune the radio to another station it isn't really a problem.
I have tried to think of any downsides to the radio, but I just can't think of any; it looks great, sounds wonderful and at the price a steal. If there was one small complaint it would be that the additional speaker is a little dear at £29.99 but it does keep the price of the radio down for those people that do not require stereo.
