5.0 out of 5 stars 14 truly awesome tracks with absolutly no album fillers., 8 Feb 2006
By Chris Hall "Dreadlocksmile" (Cardiff, Wales) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
Released back on the 12th May 1997, the 3 Colours Red debut album “Pure” was brought out through Creation Records. The album contained fourteen tracks, five of which were released as singles. The heavy and thick album inlay contains all of the tracks' lyrics along with appropriate artwork.

From the start, the album delivers a very British rock of the ‘90s sound. With strong influences from the likes of The Wildhearts (guitarist Chris McCormack being Danny McCormack's brother), Senseless Things (drummer Keith’s old band), AP&S, Cecil and Honeycrack, the band have put together a well-produced, well-written, rock ‘n’ roll triumph of an album. Packed with killer tracks, the four-piece play a mature mixture of pop/punk/rock tracks with meaty riffs and addictive melodies running throughout. Vocalist Pete Vuckovic delivers some gritty vocals that work perfectly with the layered tower of chunky guitars.

All in all, the album is a fantastic debut album from the British rockers. Well, well worth getting you hands on.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worthy successor to Stiff Little Fingers, 10 years too late, 27 Nov 2003
Sometimes there's just no substitute for a band winding everything up to 10 and just thrashing the daylights out of it.
At 13 tracks this album is slightly too long and runs out of steam towards the end (though the last track is fine) but their opening salvo of noise-driven punk/power-pop/whatever is an utter joy to listen to (ideally in a noisy car being driven very fast).

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 15 Feb 2003
By Alex (Reading, UK) - See all my reviews
This is great stuff. For a band that would go onto to release an average second album, split and then reform in 2002, the debut was pure excellent. Opening at a frantic pace (pure, this my hollywood, nerve gas, nuclear holiday) the album never really slows down. The simple punk of 'sixty mile smile', the spiky, angry 'Hateslick', and the truly blissful (and album highlight) 'Fit boy and Faint girl', a ballad that launches into one hell of a final verse. Any fan of the British rock scene (Terrorvision,Feeder,Wildhearts) should definately buy this-even at inport (its out of print in UK). Its a great album-5 stars.
