I bought this bottle to take to the Himalayas. It was one of the most useful things I took with me but I've only given it 3 stars because it needs 2 impovements: firstly why is there no cap on the mouthpiece? The whole point is to be able to drink clean water and when you've been carrying the bottle on a long hike it's difficult to keep the top clean! Secondly, the bottle leaks! I had this problem after the first few days of using it, it would leak unless I screwed the top on really tight and even then it didn't seem to fit too well.
I haven't tried any other bottles out there so I'm not sure if there's a better one but you would have thought the manufactuers would think of these simple improvements which could make all the difference.

I bought 2 of these to take to Nepal, India and SEA. It worked really well for the first couple of weeks and then started leaking from the side, allowing un-filtered water to go through...(and wet my t-shirts in the process).. i'm a little annoyed considering the price i paid for this and the impossibility to get a replacement whilst I'm overseas, i thought i could avoid buying plastic bottles but it looks like this is my only option now. :(

A heavy water drinker at the best of times, I'm the kind of traveller you'll never find without a plastic bottle under one arm. Until last summer when I invested in an Aquapure Traveller for a month staying with a Gambian family in their compound. I used it constantly for water from their well and also from the village standpipes and had no trouble at all. The only thing I dislike about it - and I suppose it can't be helped because of the filter - is that however hard you squeeze it the water passes through pretty slowly. If you're really thirsty or trying to down something big like a malaria tablet, it's better to filter it into a bottle, cup, cycle flask or whatever and drink it from that. But you still need patience.

I have to say I bought the carrying cover thinking it would keep it cool in tropical heat and never used it. Quite honestly it looked a bit silly in Africa. But I'll definitely take the filter with me, everywhere!

We have just been on a trek in Northern India and filled these water treatment bottles from any streams or rivers we came across. Having given them a shake, you wait just 15 minutes and can then drink safely without any nasty purification taste. Neither my wife nor myself had any gut problems and we would highly rate this product. We also bought the neoprene covers c/w shoulder strap. These kept the water cool and were perfect for slinging over the shoulder. We're now looking forward to using them on mountain walks in Wales, Scotland or wherever!

I was delighted to purchase this filter for our trip around South America, where clean water may be a problem. However it requires a fairly hard squeeze to eject the purified water and it seems the bottle itself is not up to the job. Water was also expelled from the join between the cap and the bottle, this means that the water collected is a mixture of purified and untreated. Result NOT SAFE!!! I feel the plastic bottle is of poor design and needs to be more rigid at the neck to prevent this leakage. I have no doubt that with such an upgrade the filter itself will work and the product worthy of consideration. Until then.......at your own risk!!

Fantastic product- there are many old reviews which perhaps are not relevant now- so thought I would do my bit and give my opinion/update... I have used 2 Aquapure Travellers + replacement purifier caps, I think 3 and 2 Inline water purifiers from Pure Hydration over the last 5 years.... (constantly travelling from Feb 29th 2009 until September 12th 2013- i think I have over 100 entry exit stamps in my passport(s) from these 4 countries alone- had to get 1 passport renewed as it was too full for even 1 more tiny little stamp)
.....constant use in Cambodia from the Meekong river- Vietnam. Malaysia- China (from some of the most revolting water possible- including straight from the Saigon river in Ho Chi Minh City & Meekong river in South Viet Nam. If you would like me to tell you what was in the water please ask me and i will share with you!! I was not always on the rivers- but used it in every accommodation I stayed- i never even trust the bottles water- i know how to tell the difference between FAKE bottled water and not fake- there is such a thing in South east Asia- believe me
**They have new purification tech- it is now instant purification- NO WAITING TIME- and still deals with viruses and bacteria
I have no problems with leak from the cap, so I guess this has now been fixed - and purifies minimum 350L litres compared to other bottle filters which are somewhere around 200 litres or less- so 30% more water- easily- It is also really EASY to SQUEEZE compared to 2 other bottles I have tried- hope this has enlightened some potential purchasers as i said many of the reviews are so old, they purchased the old technology which was discontinued i think around 2-3 years ago

ok, finished now- got all carried away , I only wanted to write a couple of lines

I bought one of these filters last year for my trek across the Pyrenees on the GR10. When it arrived I was slightly put off by it's initial weight. However in hindsight the bottle actually saved me having to carry vast amounts of water in my back pack as I could fill it up from any given source on route.

I used it pretty much constantly on the trek and drew water from some pretty disgusting places safe in the knowledge that when it came through the filter it would be clean, clear and importantly odourless and with no chemical taste to it.

This bottle could be a life saver. It produces about 300 liters of water before you need to change the filter, which for the price is very good. It is without doubt the first piece of equipment that goes in my back pack when hiking now, even for day walks or week long treks, I won't be without it now.
