As English as Shakespeare, and like the Bard, a part of this island's cultural output which should be on every Englishman's shelf. A real stellar cast of performers too long to list here, under the direction of Robert King, present a delightful nine hours of Purcell's full output of odes and welcome songs.
Packages in hinged cardboard box, eight discs in cardboard sleeves plus booklet in English, French and German providing notes on each piece plus the lyrics. The text is a little on the small side though. An unmissable event - "Who can from joy refrain?" indeed.

Highly recommended! Bright and very enjoyable music played and sung to the highest standards. If Purcell had exceeded his 36 years,we can only imagine what gems he would have produced! I would strongly recommend buying this well produced box set.

I like this music and this CD-BOX SET isvery interesting, because: a) This music is so joyful and makes a happy feeling. b) Musicians, who have recorded this CD-SET, are very good.
