Synopsis

The PUPPET MASTER series finally concludes with its seventh, and straight-to-video, sequel THE LEGACY. Comprised mostly of clips from the previous features, the film centers
around Eric Weiss (Jacob Witkin) the little boy saved by toymaker Andre Toulon in PUPPET MASTER 3. Now a grown man in pursuit of Toulon's secret for animating objects, Weiss relates the puppets' history--through flashbacks and archival footage from the first six sequels--to a woman named Maclain (Kate Orsini), unaware that the mysterious beauty is really an assassin out to destroy the puppet master's legacy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Watch this now, be wary with it's sequels..., 7 Feb 2005
By T. Carne "Techie wage-slave" (Cambridge UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Puppet Master [DVD] [1989] (DVD)
This is the original and best of the Puppet Master films, keeping the Puppet team down to Blade, Jester, Leechwoman and Tunneller, and with a decent, older and more convincing cast. Irene Miracle is particularly good as a barmy fortune-teller, though I wouldn't get too attached to anybody if you know what I mean. The puppets look damn good in this first movie, with a cross between full stop-motion animation and Muppet style techniques giving them a firmly believable presence. Unlike the other films in the series, this movie has both a knowingly hammy script and some truly horrific moments, which makes for a fun, scary and well paced movie, which doesn't rely purely on the gimmick of the puppets to drive the film. If you like the fantasy elements of films like Child's Play, Nightmare on Elm Street or Hellraiser, you may find this low budget gem of a film equally interesting. I recommend this to anybody with an interest in horror or fantasy movies, as it is a great little movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars why weren't 4,5,7,8 like this, 20 Aug 2003
This review is from: Puppet Master [DVD] [1989] (DVD)
puppet master and other killer dolls or puppet related films have always been my favorite type filmmwhen i first saw this in the movies i have been hooked on the series all the puppets have all had that special piece of horror in them. Its just a shame 4,5,7,8 didn't do quiet as well as this one anyway let get back down to earth. we start of a group of sikets have been called together by neil gallar who has been looking into the work of a old puppet master in the 20's who was said to have dicovered the secert of life when the sikets get there lead by Alex witicgar they find that neil is dead after quiet alot of move the body around game it soon becomes clear that neil is not dead and has brought himself back to life useing the powers of the puppet master he controls the puppets to kill the rest of the inmates of until alex and the owner (neils wife) are left neil and her now must do anything to stop the puppets and neil bofore they are both killed but blade, pinhead, ms leech, jester and tunneler have other ideas.

4.0 out of 5 stars A classic..., 1 April 2002
By alamsami@yahoo.com (Limassol, Cyprus.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Puppet Master [DVD] [1989] (DVD)
This well crafted little horror film is a classic by today's standards. Followed by numerous sequels, the original remains the best one. The special effects are first rate, the only minus is the confusing plot and bad DVD transfer.
Recommended.
