One-Panel Hilarity 30 Dec. 2011
By tvtv3 - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
PUNS OF STEEL is a collection of "Argyle Sweater" comics. Created and drawn by Scott Hilburn, "Argyle Sweater" is perhaps the best one-panel strip since "Farside". Though there are sometimes similarities, "Argyle Sweater" isn't the new "Farside". In my opinion, "Argyle Sweater" is a better strip than "Farside". For instance, "Farside" hardly ever touched upon anything current and "Argyle Sweater" constantly lampoons current trends and culture. My favorite strips in the book are "The Jedi Mime Trick" one on page 109 that features Yoda and Obi-Wan escaping from a group of stormtroopers and "The Cereal Killer" on the same page that features a cop and a detective talking about a killer over the body of Lucky the Leprechaun. A must-have for fans of "Argyle Sweater" and a highly recommended book for those who enjoy comics.
reliable laughs 9 April 2014

What's not to love about the majority of these clever puns? Some are downright hilarious. I discovered Scott Hilburn's comic strip in 2013 and I become so enamored of the wittiness and simple, sarcastic drawing that I decided to look for his books on my favorite shopping site. If you like to read, devour words in different languages, and enjoy various forms of word play and word games, and if you have a sense of humor ranging from sophisticated subtlety to thorny wit to sophomoric groaners to the gentle Rated G to the utterly goofy like I do, then you might also dig this book and the other comic output of this author.

Yes, this comic strip is reminiscent of, or even a dead ringer for some of the other authors' works that people have mentioned, but that does not detract from it's value and freshness of material, whether current pop culture or that of yesteryear. Good for all ages. Warning: will reduce stress and release endorphins and take you away for a bit from the sometimes rabid nastiness of life.

This is extremely funny. Reminds me of The Far Side. I reccommend this book to anyone who needs a good laugh.
Great Scott! 13 Feb. 2013

Scott Hilburn's Argyle Sweater almost takes away the pain of loss of Gary Larson's Far Side. Almost. He has a few more groaner's than Larson did, but most of his comics are laugh out loud funny, and Puns of Steel is a good collection to show that.
The new Far Side 11 April 2013

Argyle Sweater is the new Far Side. Not every cartoon is a gem, but most of them are good, and some are even great. If you love and miss the Far Side, you'll love Argyle Sweater. Puns of Steel is a huge collection, so it's a great place to start.
