Small Wonder 10 July 2011
By meeky
This little film was shot in London as a piece to be submitted for the directors degree. It is a while since I saw it which is why I can't name check him. It shows London groups rehearsing and gigging. One notable group are X-RAY SPEX who play Identity and Oh bondage Up Yours! which are spontaneous and superb. There is a trip to Small Wonder records where we go inside and see the guys who were running the shop/label. Part of a group of three DVDs (Punk in England and Reggae in Babylon)The clash are featured (Mick Jones moaning about the hotel or something). Of interest as a documentary that was actually shot in the midst of punk and not just a load of band members describing what it was like. Worth seeing as are other two. A welcome discovery as so little stuff was filmed back then.
