Horror icon Doug Bradley (Hellraiser movies) and Lance Henriksen (Pumpkinhead, Scream 3) star in this riveting continuation of the Pumpkinhead series. When the residents of a small town discover that their local mortician has been dumping the corpses of their loved ones into a swamp, rather than properly cremating them, they seek the assistance of a witch named Haggis to mete out justice. Haggis summons the demon Pumpkinhead to kill those responsible for the desecration. The only thing that can stop Pumpkinhead is an eccentric, small-town physician who is set on killing the locals who have unleashed the demon.

Synopsis
Genre fans will love seeing two horror greats in this entry in the Pumpkinhead series: Lance Henriksen (ALIENS, THE TERMINATOR) and Doug Bradley (aka HELLRAISER's Pinhead). A small town discovers that its mortician hasn't been properly disposing of the bodies of their friends and family. Instead, he has been using the local swamp as a mass grave, and the townspeople want vengeance. With the help of the witch Haggis, they call the demon Pumpkinhead to their aid, but things don't turn out quite the way they wanted.

4.0 out of 5 stars A HIGHLY IMPRESSIVE SEQUEL, 29 Oct 2007
By stuart "s.vernon" (MIDDLESBROUGH, ENGLAND) - See all my reviews
(TOP 100 REVIEWER)
After discovering a giant cache of bodies in the woods, all operated on illegally, Molly Sue Allen, (Tess Panzer) who lost a child to the cache, can't bear the thought of the two responsible, Doc Fraser, (Doug Bradley) and Bunt Wallace, (Douglas Roberts) getting away with it and decides to use the legend of Pumpkinhead to wrong their right. As Pumpkinhead goes about it's course and begins to reek vengeance upon the guilty party, Molly becomes less and less willing to help the others. Those marked by the creature struggle to stay alive during the course of it's rampage.

The Good News: This is one of the better sequels around. The fact that the creature is up and running around quite early in the film is it's best attribute. That allows for a very fast pace and a really wall-to-wall delivery. There's really no stop to the film and it keeps the interest high. From the assault on the police station to the shootout in the motel to the final showdown, there's a lot of great action scenes spread throughout to really keep it interesting. The Church scene is one of it's best parts, and is one of the most action-packed parts of the film. The gore in here is not all that bad and follows up with some pretty bloody moments. There's a very vicious slit throat, impalement on a metal spike, a spike in the chest, falling glass shards land in the face and several gunshot wounds, among other deaths. The splatter is quite well done as well, making it a realistic looking show as well. That helps it out tremendously and gives it a great feel. The design of the creature is still incredibly threatening and imposing, and a lot of mileage is gotten from it's appearance. The story is pretty clever and creative. It follows along the general rules for the series and it keeps them in full view, never really changing it around and that's a great accomplishments for the film. One great extra feature is that it allows for Bradley to get in some work where we won't associate him with his famous character. The role is a nice change of pace and really livens up things a lot. There wasn't a whole lot to dislike here and it's a great film.

The Bad News: There's very, very little here that wasn't all that good. The fact that it slows down a tad towards the ending is a small problem, taking a small break from the mayhem to give some exposition that was nicely needed, but it's not a big deal. The fact that Henriksen does appear very briefly at spurting moments is a little sad, but then again, these are the main things I could find wrong with the film.

The Final Verdict: Two very, very small problems haunt this one, and it's one of the better films out. It follows the storyline pretty good, allowing for lots of great moments and a great continuity from the first one. Fans of the first one should invest time in this one, and all others interested are advised to give it a shot. It's quite good.

3.0 out of 5 stars good for a sequel, 4 Jun 2008

(REAL NAME)
I liked this film having watched the original i had to rent the sequels, i have not watched pumpkinhead 2 but pumpkinhead 3 carries on years later with some of the original cast which was nice to see. The main savior of the film was doug bradley who plays the villan of the film it was nice to see him trying to kill the people who raised the demon. The bad points of the film was lance only had a small part to play and the so called good folk who raised the demon were very weak characters, also i think the demon had quite a few tea breaks rather then just keep attacking but for a sequel it was good
