Product Description

Product Description

Winner of the Academy Award for Best Screenplay and the prestigious Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, Pulp Fiction exploded on to the screen in 1994 and transformed the direction of contemporary cinema. This triplet of masterfully interwoven crime stories is witty, gritty and shamelessly violent, displaying Tarantino's visceral approach to character and plot. Tarantino has spawned a whole host of wannabes in the wake of this, the defining movie of the 1990s. But none has demonstrated the elegant style and compassion that make his scripts so compellingly readable.

About the Author

Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, in 1963, Quentin Tarantino was an ex-video store clerk whose debut feature Reservoir Dogs (1991) became a huge cult hit. Two earlier scripts - True Romance and Natural Born Killers - were then filmed, while his own Pulp Fiction (1994) won the Palme d'Or at Cannes and an Oscar for Best Screenplay. Subsequently, he has contributed to Four Rooms (1995) and From Dusk Till Dawn (1996), and made Jackie Brown (1998), Kill Bill (2003), Death Proof (2008) and Inglourious Basterds (2009).

A good little guide 6 May 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Like most of these mini guides, it provides a good base for an essay or study. The `bare bones' provided in this book are a great starting point for an essay and provide the reader with plenty of thoughts and ideas to `flesh out' their essay or study.

I bought this book after watching the film and instantly i was drawn into the pace of the book. The film seems slow, but gritty and fascinating -which what made the film and the book so great. Reading this book brings back all those great conversations like the 'Royale with Cheese' and the 'Restaurants, on the other hand...!' Its a book which you can dive into, and feel the wit, spark and black humour. A must read for any aspiring screenplay writer!

Neville Langley has produced this very informative book based on Tarantino's 1994 hit film Pulp Fiction. I studied Tarantino's work at College, and as Langley is head of department at Cricklade College - Andover, It was like being taught by him too. This book simplifies the difficult plot of pulp fiction in a clear a precise way. It informs the reader on specific aspects of the film and aims to un-tangle the twisted film narrative. If you are a fan of Pulp Fiction or studying it; This is the best research aid you will get. I suggest you buy this book as soon as possible. Excellent attention to detail, presented in a clear and easy to read way.
