The CD is excellent. My daughters, who are aged 4 & 7, and I listen to the stories again and again, particularly in the car. We all enjoy them and all have our favourites. There's a good mix of traditional and modern and the actors read them beautifully. As a result, we bought the one for 7 year olds which my older daughter and I also love (my younger daughter doesn't understand them so well). My girls are bilingual Spanish (first language) and English, and the stories are also a great help in building their listening and general language skills.

I was very disappointed with the quality of the paper and the lack of good colourful pictures which a 5 year old would enjoy. Children at this age enjoy looking at the pictures along with the story and also like the feel of the smooth white polished paper. This book's pages are almost yellow, and feels coarse, and there are hardly any pictures, and if at all, these are all b/w. Though the stories are good, I would only recommend it for slightly older children who can be happy just hearing the stories and not be interested in the look and feel.

I would highly recommend this tape for any five year old who likes listening to stories. It has a good mixture of traditional and modern stories which my daughter has found both entertaining and interesting. Importantly the stories are well read, clear and easy to understand. I especially like the modern stories which are both relevant and true to life. Good buy.
