Use These Storytelling Techniques to Deliver Electrifying Presentations and Speeches

The essence of public speaking is to "tell a story and make a point".

Stories have the power to captivate listeners and to ignite their imaginations. Our brains crave stories - it's how history was recorded before people learned how to write - but what makes a great story? How can you create and deliver stories which keep your listeners transfixed?

Based on Intensive Research on Brain Science, Storytelling, Screenwriting and Public Speaking

I spent the last four years studying and evaluating thousands of speakers - some great ones, and others who (to put it mildly) needed a lot of help. I read over two hundred books on the art of public speaking, storytelling and screenwriting, attended countless seminars on the subject and devoured every piece of information I could get on the art of presenting. This book is the result of my intensive research. In it, you will find powerful storytelling and speaking techniques that are used by some of the world’s best speakers to help win audiences over to their way of thinking.

If you want to master the art of public speaking, you must master the art of storytelling.

In this book, you will discover the public speaking and storytelling techniques used by some of the best public speakers in the world. More specifically, you will learn how to:

Create an opening that instantly hooks your audience into your speech

•Keep your audience on the edge of their seats with a spellbinding story

Use the suspended story to keep your audience intrigued

•Bring your characters to life

Turn your stories into mental movies for your audience

•Create and deliver a speech your audience will remember and talk about for years

Keep ratcheting up the suspense by increasing the intensity of your conflicts

•Customize your speech (and your story) for your audience

Add organic humor to your speeches and stories without resorting to jokes

•Use anchors to make your points memorable

Use tough-watch logic to inspire your audience

•Create smooth transitions to ensure your speech flows logically

Create analogies and metaphors to make your message memorable

•Give your audience dialogue to build rapport with them

Add a you-focused check-in to relate with your audience

•Use vocal variety to spice up your speech

Create a memorable and repeatable catch-phrase using “the rule of opposites”

•Add credibility to your speeches and stories

Take an element out of your story and put it into your audience’s lives

•Creatively summarize your main points

Tell a story and deliver a speech that your audience will remember and talk about for years

What Makes This Book Different?

This book is unlike most books on the subjects of public speaking and storytelling.

While most books simply teach you the techniques, this book also contains four short world-class speeches and stories for you to study and evaluate.

Each speech is followed by a detailed line-by-line analysis of the speech so that you can see the public speaking and storytelling techniques in action.

While the four winning speeches in this book are short, inspirational speeches, the techniques in the book can be applied to create powerful business presentations, keynotes or workshops.

When you apply the techniques in this book, you will become twice the speaker in half the time.

If you’re ready to become a powerfully persuasive speaker who owns the stage, then scroll up, click the Buy Now button and let's get started...

4.0 out of 5 stars Very worthwhile to read and ponder 29 May 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It is a book written from a few great speakers experience who won in competitions.
Great ideas and practices to follow and ponder. Even for those whom competition does not matter, like me.
For me, who also knew already this winners, not many new ideas, and some I do not agree.

I think it is a book to read and reread and I specially loved the feedbacks we can take from each linked speech. Very original exercises also and teaches us how to analyse speeches and take them in our experience. Those, and many others too once we get Karia's method.

Excellent book with lots of tips for making a very engaging presentation, to work or at any other public events. I found it interesting that he has put in the text of a World Championship speech in there, helps the reader to carefully analyze the details of the techniques used in such speeches.

A must-read for people who love to speak in public.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Have Book - If you speak + and you love supercharging your message 22 April 2013
By David Favor - Published on Amazon.com

After writing Beautiful Business, I've started looking for other books I can recommend to my "Book Design Mastermind" group (hosted by The Inside Track Party) to assist them accelerating their success with what they're learning.

5 Stars for this book!

The title sucked me in + the writing quality + content quality is holding my attention.

George (the author, a great guy who lives down the road from me in Dallas, TX) mentions having read several 100 books about public speaking.

George's writing quality + content quality proves he's telling the truth.

His book's format is brilliant!

1) Take 4 World Class speeches

2) Transcribe + Publish the entire speech

3) Analyze each speech (at the line + paragraph + thought level)

The idea of "inference devices" surfaces in the first speech by Lily Waters, which is something repeatedly + correctly droned about by Roy Williams + other "Wizard Academy" faculty in most "Wizard Academy" curricula .

Highly effective writers + speakers use the power of "inference devices" repeatedly while crafting their content.

"Instead of telling your audience you're truthful, say something only a truthful person might say." - Roy Williams

In other words, rather than saying something flat out, infere an idea which kicks off a thought process where a person's background concentration becomes hyper-engaged during reading.

An inference example in Lily's speech is...

"And I had a couple of roommates that made Dumb + Dumber look like Einstein + Oppenheimer."

So instead of saying she had two... really stupid roommates... Lily inferred the depths of their stupidity... that they were dumb as a bag of hammers...

And this is just the first part of the first speech in this book.

My advice, buy the book and cash in next time you talk for a group.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very informative! 3 July 2013
By Eric Laughton - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The book was informative and the information was "useable" as opposed to complicated and "theory based." The additions of links to actual talks (and then him writing about the talks) was unique and quite helpful.
