Count Five - 'Psychotic Reunion Live' (Performance Records) 22 Sept. 2004
By Mike Reed - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
First off, be sure to read the disc title carefully, as it's 'Psychotic Reunion Live'... NOT 'Psychotic Reaction', the band's sole lp. I made the same error at first. Despite a negative review that I'd seen for this CD, I decided to snatch up a copy and thought to myself, okay...just how bad can it be? It's not as good as the band's actual album, the previously mentioned 'Psychotic Reaction', but it's okay.' Psychotic Reunion Live' was recorded at a one-off reunion of all five original members, I believe. EXCEPT for the drummer, but he sat in for the encore, the band's only hit "Psychotic Reaction". The shindig took place in the band's home town of San Jose, CA in summer, 1987. As they played plenty of covers, like the Yardbird's "Train Kept A Rollin'", the Stones "Satisfaction", Them's "Gloria" and The Who's "My Generation", the band also did several of their own decently penned tracks, which are "I'm In Love Again", the rocking "Double Decker Bus", "Changes" and "Hold Me". If you're wanting to find a low-priced copy of this indie title, try Bomp's printed catalog they put out like every other month. An okay get-together by another long-lost psych / garage band that you'll probably never seen reunite again.
