Product Description

Satori is caught between two worlds. There is something he needs in one, but the other keeps drawing him back. However, he is in love and he isn’t going to let a little thing like death get in his way. To reach his goal, he must face unimaginable horrors, not least of which is his true self.
Star’s tortured and broken body awaits Satori, but does she really need him to save her? His rival, a rage-filled young woman, grows more powerful and becomes as twisted as the ribbons in her hair while the demon, Lilith, draws each of them inexorably towards her. Who will survive the coming battle?

Full of sex and magic, “Psychonaut” is an exploration into the human psyche and the second book in Voiez’s “Starblood” trilogy.

"Carmilla Voiez is more of a singer than a writer. She tells her compelling story in a hypnotic, distinctive voice that brings her eerie world vividly to life." Graham Masterton

“Psychonaut is a book of mad impulses, inner vision, sadism, escape and belief. You feel uncomfortable reading it, like Alex strapped to the chair in Clockwork Orange being taught to feel sick at atrocity. Rather than leave us crippled by response, though, Psychonaut bears you through the hurt towards the only paradise we can be assured of...a love past fault.” Jef Withonef, Houston Press.

More About the Author

I was born in Bristol, South West England in the 1970's. Now I live by the sea in North East Scotland with a husband, two kids and three cats. I've studied English and Creative Writing with the Open University. I'm a Goth and used to run and design clothing for a Gothic company before I became a full-time writer.

The Starblood Trilogy is an erotic horror/dark fantasy/paranormal romance trilogy. The first two books have been published by Vamptasy. Starblood was the first book and has been critically acclaimed and nominated for the Commonwealth Book Prize. Psychonaut was released on Kindle December 2012 and will be out in paperback in January 2013. It is the second book in the trilogy and continues the stories of the Gothic characters and a demon. Psychonaut has been endorsed by horror writing maestro Graham Masterton.

The trilogy is about a group of friends, one of which accidently unleashes a demon who starts a murder spree. It's very much about how the characters and the story develop in interconnected ways. Although it is both comfortable in the horror and erotica genre, it's primarily a series of books about people. Flawed, beautiful, intelligent and highly sexed people.

I'm working on the third book at the moment. I'm also hoping to release a collection of spooky stories in 2013. I have a short story on Kindle called "A Christmas Carole" which is light-hearted lesbian erotica.

My favourite authors are Clive Barker, Storm Constantine and Graham Masterton (in the horror and fantasy genres). Outside the horror and fantasy genres I love Sarah Waters, Leo Tolstoy and Zadie Smith.

5.0 out of 5 stars The series that keeps on giving 4 May 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I gave a glowing review to the first book in this trilogy, and the second book deserves as much praise!

Ms Voiez and her characters have voracious appetites for the Gothic subculture, and the mysteries of the world. Magic. Sex. Horror. It is all essential.

Picking up where 'Starblood' finishes, Satori is holding onto his love for Star and will do anything to be with her, even if it means transcending unimaginable worlds and facing a terrible demon... Personally my favourite character is Freya - just her name is gorgeous. Introduced in the first book, she takes a larger role, and she's constantly changing. The book divides it's time between the characters, making it work.

It has a beautiful writing style, reminiscent of Stephen King. It's fast paced, informative and draws you in as a reader. I have already bought the final book of the series and can't wait to start it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great sequel to Starblood 29 April 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
New author Carmilla Voiez burst on the scene with Starblood, and this, Psychonaut, is the second book in the trilogy. It's even better than Starblood, Carmilla is growing in confidence as a writer. She writes a blinder, Psychonaut goes at breakneck pace with believable characters, strange but believable realms and believable action. The reader lives the story. It's like a Quest story, with the hero, Satori, meeting strange monsters in strange landscapes. It's a great book, Carmilla Voiez deserves to be much more widely known. Can't wait for the next in the trilogy to come out.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Journey Through the Realms of Hell for Love 28 Feb 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
This the second book in the Starblood trilogy and it picks up right where Starblood ended, with Satori making his way home and out of the mountains after burying the body of his love. He is delious and half out of his mind with grief when he returns home. Deciding to keep his promise to save Star from the grips of Lilith once again he begins and epic journey through the astral plains of hell only to be conitnually dragged back to reality.

There are more than demons at work keeping him from saving his love. Will he be able to face to levels of hell he must travel to save her? Can he face the truth about himself? Is it possible for an arrogant man to reliquish he selfishness and become a man worthy of his true love?

This story is the journey of Satori as he tries to learn and grown as a man. Freya finds herself also and Liliths world and has a lot to learn about herself too. Star also learns of the power she has be hiding away from herself her whole life. The characters in this story all have things to learn. Is it possible to save someone when you can't save yourself?

This is a well written book, full of descriptive elements to allow you to travel into the depth of hell with Satori and feel the pain each level has to offer. You are there with him as through each level he learns a little more. The characters are so well developed and you feel with them and for them. I look forward to the third installment in this series.
