Product Description

Are you a graduate? Looking for a brilliant job? Then you should know that over 95 percent of the FTSE 100 companies use psychometric and management tests to select their graduate recruits, as do the police, the Civil Service, local authorities, the Armed Forces, the Fire Service, financial institutions, the motor industry, the IT industry - the list is endless. In fact, tests are now an integral part of the recruitment process for most medium-large sized organisations worldwide. So if you're looking for a job, you need this book! It includes: 37 genuine graduate-level practice tests from SHL Group plc, the biggest test publisher in the world; 227 questions covering verbal, numerical, abstract and spatial reasoning, mechanical comprehension, fault diagnosis, accuracy and personality; and, genuine practice Brainstorm, Scenarios and Fastrack management tests. It also includes valuable advice on: online psychometric tests; researching your target employer; and, assessment centre visits (including role-plays, group discussions, in-tray exercises and presentations). This book gives you the three things you need to pass graduate-level psychometric and management tests: information, confidence, and plenty of practice.

From the Author

I wrote Psychometric Tests for Graduates because I wanted to help young people pass the psychometric tests used these days by virtually every company under the sun to recruit staff. It’s not enough to write a good CV or even give a stunning interview performance – if you want to get a great job you also have to pass the tests. There are loads of psychometric test books around, but I wanted to provide a book full of GENUINE tests. Not what I call the ‘magazine variety’, or tests thought up by psychologists who just fancied getting themselves published, but the real thing. In other words, genuine graduate-level tests actually written by SHL Group plc, the test publisher used by over 90% of all medium to large size companies worldwide. My book is the only one on the market that does this. I also wanted to help people once they’d got throught the initial screening process (the online psychometric tests) and were faced with an assessment centre visit. I’ve done this by providing comprehensive information on all aspects of the testing process, loads of advice and a huge number of practice tests, including all the ability-type tests and also personality questionnaires and the most popular management tests and exercises. A word of advice for current readers – you will probably be able to manage some of the SHL tests fairly easily but find others extremely difficult, even thought they are all graduate-level tests. This is quite normal and simply reflects the fact that we all have different strengths and weaknesses. Personally, I’m pretty hot on the verbal reasoning but absolutely useless at the engineering and fault diagnosis sections – but then I don’t suppose I’ll ever want to apply for a job in engineering or systems design. I hope that apart from preparing you for the real-life psychometric tests, my book will also give you a clearer idea of your own strengths and weaknesses in order to help you plan your own career path. This book is a follow up to my first (and very successful) psychometric test book, Passing Psychometric Tests. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
