3.0 out of 5 stars Great footage, poor packaging 11 Oct 2002
As a keen follower of bands termed psychedelic from the late 60,s
I was attracted to this video due to the list of bands mentioned
most notably soft machine a band i,ve never seen footage of before. This for me is the highlight of the video, the three piece that recorded thier wonderful first album are featured in a Dutch t.v show from 1967 performing the seldom heard "we know what you mean". I had to endeavour to find out the info of where and when this recording was made as the video cover tells you nothing. The info on the cover also has glaring errors the two pink floyd tracks are wrongly stated and captain beefhearts "upon the my oh my" is credited to Jimi Hendrix!.Thier is however great concert footage of the dead,Dr John,Steve Miller,Hendrix and the floyd. However you have to guess where and when they were recorded, the tracks are also poorly edited for the video release.Mostly this seems to be culled from European t.v late 60,s/early 70,s.As a result most people in the U.K will not have seen most of this footage and if your a fan of this era of music its worth investigating.Be prepared to do some fact finding to asuage your curiosity however.
