Book Description

28 Mar 2002
Applied psychology in work settings has made considerable progress in the 30 years since the original version of this book was published. This new collection of essays aims to illustrate both the empirical and practical richness of the field as wellas its theoretical development. The chapters cover psychological processes, the study of groups and workteams, and the nature of complex organizations as a whole. Reflecting recent developments in psychology as well as society generally, topics range from skill and workload, shiftwork, personnel selection, training and careers, and the effects of new technology, leadership and management, to job stress and well-being, women in employment, corporate culture and processes of organizational change.

Yes, if you are concerned with organizational psychology, here is an excellent and highly commended text to use in relation to this area of work along with J. Arnold & R. Randall et al "Work Psychology". However, be sure to get P. Warr's edited 5th edition.

Although I am not a native speaker, the level english is appropriate for me. The content is more intended to students I think but it suits anyone who wants to learn more about psychology at work.

3.0 out of 5 stars collection of essays 18 May 2001
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
This is a good general book. Useful to have if you're doing a course on the subject or if you're just interested. Covers a good range of topics but doesn't quite have the depth of some of the other texts.
