This is a MUST for any A level candidates wishing to get a high grade in psychology!
It has loads of extra studies on each topic which leads to far more evidence you can give in your evaluations of theories etc, which then leads to more marks!!

I wholly recommend this book to anyone wanting wider reading for psychology to secure the highest grades possible.

I used this book instead of the textbook I was given in class, since the layout is far more simpler.
I found the simplistic AO1, AO2 and AO3 layout for each topic great for unit 3 psychology especially! Most other textbooks I have gotten my hands on may be nice to get a general idea of the subject, but they are often confusing. This text book is straightforward and helped me secure an A in all my mocks (hopefully in August I'd find I've achieved my A! :P)
It is also very colourful and easy to read as it is broken up into little subsections that are digestable.
The only downside is that the evaluation only gives suggestions rather than full on developed points. Though this isn't much of an issue, since if you're aiming high, you should be able to develop evaluation points with the general PEA rule. Also if you did well in learning AS, you can use all those methodogical skills to evaluate

A useful textbook for the A2 Psychology AQA course, it contains numerous research studies to use for evaluation of theories and perspectives, as well as many evaluative points regarding issues, debates and approaches. It also has assessment questions with examiner's advice which is helpful in preparing for the exam. The textbook falls short in terms of AO1, which involves description and explanation, as it often has only a paragraphs worth of information on a particular topic and then the rest is research and evaluation. This can be resolved by using the Cardwell/Clark/Meldrum/Waberly Psychology A2 textbook alongside it, which contains more AO1 but less helpful AO2.

This is the book my teacher uses in class and the one we found most helpful and most interesting/easy to read and understand. It's great for explaining studies and gets the point across really well. Would still use this alongside class notes though as the evaluation points are a little brief. Other than that it's a great book to assist my studies!

This book is good for those study a2 psychology because you can make extra notes from those you do in lessons and gives helpful evaluations. The book does not feature everything that is on the syllabus and has little in terms of research methods. If somebody who does not study psychology but wants to learn about it this is a really good book and explains things simply and has a lot of information.

As a teacher of Psychology, I decided to use this book for a change last year; that was a very good decision as A grades more than doubled compared to the year before (most especially in unit 4). The layout is simple and easy to understand. Although AO1 can sometimes be lacking, generally speaking it is quite detailed and the AO2/3 is brilliant - there are often more than enough evaluation points to pick from. I would highly recommend this book for any teacher/student of A level Psychology.
