Serious self help for those aware of a larger existance., 12 Jun 1998

This review is from: Psychological Commentaries on the Teaching of Gurdjieff and Ouspensky (Hardcover)
These books are for people confused by, or struggling with life.If you know, somewhere deep with-in, that there is a much greater meaning to life than that which you behold on a daily basis, if you possess what the Author refers to as "magnetic center", than these volumes could be for you. It's safe to assume that, in todays world, the very idea of one questioning their relationship to life and the cosmos are largely non exsistant. This is why the world is in the condition that it is in.I couldn't possibly go into the psycology the books offer here. The information is serious. It is real. It's not for everybody. It wasn't intended to be.For me, when I hear more and more about children shooting children on play grounds, and life seems to slip further and further into what a sane person would call insanity, Maurice Nicole has provided a life line that i can hold on to tightly.

The commentaries of Nicoll are vast., 15 Feb 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Psychological Commentaries on the Teaching of Gurdjieff and Ouspensky (Hardcover)
The commentaries of Nicoll are vast; 5 volumes (the 6th. volume is an index) with thousands and thousands of pages... but if one takes the trouble one is immensely benefitted. By reading them, the condensed picture painted by Ouspensky in his "In Search Of The Miraculous" is gradually unraveled; it becomes clear how the many facets of the teaching of Gurdjieff are interlinked into one whole which is truly a sparkling diamond. The reader changes in the course of reading because his awareness is sharpened and his understanding of himself/herself grows. The Commentaries have changed my life irreversibly, and it still gets better and better.
