I sat with PSYCHIC DIARIES, thinking I would read only a bit before work and two hours later, found myself unable to put down this book. I called in to work and told them I would be late and read nearly the entire book. It changed how I view the world and the personal stories touched me in a way no other book has ever done. I went to the authors website, psychicdiaries.com and saw her videos doing readings with the people in the book and felt even more connected to my purpose on earth. you may not understand it until you take a read at psychic diaries.

...after reading some of the reviews I was gagging to get my hands on Lysa Mateu's book. I have to say that I was left a little disappointed. Although the authors style is punchy and modern, with a refreshing no-frills approach - I found it just an upbeat version of the books that I grew out of some time ago. Those books just seem to spend their time proving that the writer really is able to speak to the spirits. Offering story upon story of facts from spirits that they were later able to prove. Add to this the fact that the authors partner is a life coach, so there's loads of great mantras for how to better your life (from Lysa and Satori's experiences) - leaving me feeling a little cheated. I have no doubt that there are very gifted people who are able to converse with the other side, however, 'connecting with who you are, why you're here and what lies beyond' promises a lot more than just proof that Lysa is a great psychic (which I never doubted). In this book Sylvia Browne is pooh-pooh'd a little, I have read several of her books and found that, for all their sensationalism, I really was left with a better idea of 'why I'm here and what lies beyond'... read this book if you're still not convinced that the spirit world exists, but not if you're looking for reasons why we're here.

Mixed Feelings At Best 29 Dec 2003
By Bonnie Jo Davis - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
I have to admit to having mixed feelings about this book even though I am a big fan of Lysa Mateu. If you have been watching Lysa and reading her on-line diary then you will not need this book. This book is virtually only entries from her on-line diary, which I read long ago, combined with some stories from her first book tour. The stories about her psychic talents are great but there are few stories about that in the book. The book really is a self help book where Lysa constantly tries to convince the reader that everyone is great, wonderful, has a good soul, can do whatever they want... I've read this stuff in so many books and when you compare it to real life you know it's not true. There is good and evil in the world and not everyone is beautiful and wonderful. Unfortunately, I got bored halfway through the book but forced myself to finish so I can only give the book three stars.

Sadly, a letdown. 27 Jan 2004
By Andy - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
"Psychic Diaries" provides a great narritive into the life and work of a psychic. It delves into personal details of what makes Lysa, which is interesting in itself. Sadly, this seems to be the bulk of the book.

As an avid reader of "Conversations with the Spirit World," I was expecting something along those lines. I was disapointed not to hear more of the spirits' voice in this work. It seemed that she pulled many of the same ideas from "Conversations..." and put them into this book -- failing to provide any new and exciting insights.

The personal narritive is a good idea, drawing her readers into her own life -- but it also makes it for difficult reading after 19 chapters. It makes it difficult to connect with the author. Her constant citations of her work in the Levy, along with the others cases, seemed on the edge of self-promotion, to me. Talking about her new TV show is the same. "Money and Spirituality" seemed out of place and an obscure topic. The personal stories at the end seemed tacked on.

It hurts me to write this, because I thought "Conversations..." was a stupendous book -- full of insight and new, bright ideas. I wish this book would've been more on those lines instead of her life story.

Maybe "Conversations..." was a hard act to follow.

A True Mish-Mash 22 Mar 2004
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
I must agree w/ some of the previous reviewers in that this is a self-help book more than anything else. She jumps around rather than settling on one subject and dealing with in in depth. I certainly don't doubt Lysa's abilities, I just wish she were a bit more gracious about them. I was shocked at her inability to keep her negative feelings for Sylvia Browne from sounding so bitchy and catty. She and Sylvia pretty much agree on the majority of what they "teach" except for two major points: Sylvia says we write our scripts before we reincarnate (Lysa does not agree) and Sylvia's main point is always loving God first and foremost (Lysa dismisses God is a "gut feeling" that steers us in a certain direction along life's path).
And, lastly, perhaps she or her editors can jot down the difference between hanging (as in death) and hanging (as in pictures): people are hanged, pictures are hung. (Page 42: "Alexy, a twenty-one year old who hung himself" should read..."who hanged himself".) As long as we're paying good money for her books, we may as well expect decent editing.
