Time to balance things up I think. Some people can't deal with the split from Mylene Farmer, but sometimes things have to change and people must move on which, some 3 years later, Alizee has done, and here is the evidence. I must admit I approached the CD with trepidation with the view that I would either love it or hate it, the 1 star or 5 star approach as evidenced in other reviews. Having given it a couple of spins I can honestly say that sure, there are a couple of duff tracks on here and on first few spins there's nothing to match Moi.. Lolita, but then I wasn't especially keen on that at the start either.
It seems Alizee is trying to make her own way without being a Mylene Farmer puppet, and credit to her for that. The album hasn't done very well in her homeland so it will be interesting to see what happens from here, but if like me you've been waiting for this album then I don't think you will be disappointed - it certainly knocks spots off most of the Pop Idol type garbage in the UK charts! Here's hoping for some live shows..

This album shows a musical maturity in Alizee, and that her voice is outstanding. She is just so much better than most of her musical peers. She has personality and that comes through here. Ok - yes the lyrics are kind of fluffy and my favorite "Taxi Driver" is jarred by completely nonsensical lyrics for this dark, subtle almost Depeche Modeish track. But I do not buy Alizee to ponder deep lyrics. It's a CD with a lot of spunk! And there is a dark side to her vocal that I really like. The comparison with Brit is outright ridiculous - Alizee is no Hollywood product and she is not vulgar. This album has several tracks that you will find yourself humming after a couple of days. Looking forward to her next album. In the meanwhile - get this gem from a very unique little personality of dance pop world. Enjoy!

I was very apprehensive when I heard that Mylene would not be involved with this but my fears are now gone. It is excellent. Alizee has an incredible vocal range and this CD shows her talents well.
