4.0 out of 5 stars Psion Wavefinder Digital Radio, 22 Sep 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Psion Wavefinder Digital Radio (Personal Computers)
Before buying any digital radio check what the coverage is like in you area, it's still patchy in some places.

A very good piece of kit on the hardware side even if it does look weird flashing light and all. The software that comes with it is not that intuitive but luckily you can download DABBAR software, which is simple to use not at all processor hungry and free!

If you want access to the digital only stations (ie BBC radio 6) and / or you use your computer a lot this is the kit for you, if not you'd be better off waiting for the stand-alone digital radios to come down in price.

1.0 out of 5 stars don`t do it!, 8 July 2005

This review is from: Psion Wavefinder Digital Radio (Personal Computers)
The psion wavefinder is the most useless dab radio i have ever come across in my life.I have owed 2 of these units so far and the performance if you can get it to work is abissmal.I crashes xp like nobodys business the signal strengh meter is inaccurate and the sound quality is glitchy it`s like listerning to a cd that is covered in scratches and finger prints.Psion technical surport is no existant. It is like psion have disowned or beleave that the product never existed and that it has gone away.I remember when these units sold for £299.Who pay that I wouldn`t pay £2.99 for it o i did sorry and live and learn and regrate it.DON`T BUY YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED BUY A BUG THEY WORK!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent under Vista, 17 May 2008
By
This review is from: Psion Wavefinder Digital Radio (Personal Computers)
Having bought one of these several months ago, and finding it didn't work under XP SP2, I put it in the cupboard and ignored it. I bought a new PC with Vista on it, and thought I'd give it a try again. I downloaded the latest wave finder software and drivers (XP drivers work fine on Vista with this) and installed the Microsoft Virtual Java machine. On opening the program, it scanned the airwaves, and found the DAB stations. Sound quality is crystal clear, with 1% CPU usage. Only disappointment I have is that DAB radio is pretty poor in my area, but this is not the wave finder's fault, as even a dedicated portable DAB radio struggles with anything but the BBC stations.

Overall very good under Vista. :)
