Ps4 games are too expensive

I want a ps4. Who doesn't? But the game prices are a real killer for me. Both digital and retail versions are so expensive. Will this over pricing calm down? Will there be a cheaper classics range?

Yeah I agree Assassins Creed 4 is the best game out at the moment but can't bring myself around to paying at least £ 35 for it, I'll wait until something I really like comes out and until then play War Thunder etc which is good fun, bit like Battlefield but in the skies.

Battlefield is the only game you need - itll keep you entertained for months....especially if you also have mates that play it

Prices are always higher in the first months after the next-gen release, they'll come down. Just have to be a bit more picky/discerning in which games you buy for the time being

It does make me laugh when people complain about the price of games. In the 90's games used to cost a lot more. N64 games used to be £50 minimum. Factoring in how development costs have increased in 15 years or so, games should be a lot more expensive than they are now. I personally think that £50 for a PS4 game is still cheap.

Best thing at the mo is to buy the ps4 games that support upgrade. AC4 runs out today. I got it from Sainburies on ps3 a week ago for £22 then using the code in the box and £10 PSN had the full ps4 game to download! £32 all in! This should be the same for COD,BF4 and Injustice but dont know of any others or when they expire. Injustice ultimate edition can be bought for £25 or less and the code inside expires end March. Hope that helps

It does make me laugh when people with more money than sense try to defend overpricing. Your a mug if you think that £50 is fair. If you have money to waste please send some to me. If the games were cheaper they would sell more units.

just buy/build a decent gaming pc then the same games will be cheaper, have better graphics and a lot will be moddable, increasing the life of them, not to mention the massive back catalog and big indie scene. there really isn't any decent ps4 exclusives worth buying atm but that's my opinion!

PS4 games are overpriced at the moment. So it will be a select few that's purchased for the time being. When decent ones come out that is. I paid £74.99 for Doom 64 back in the day. That was Nintendo's fault for being stubborn in trying to stick with cartridge which did cost more to make and sell.

In reply to an earlier post on 11 Mar 2014 16:29:41 GMT
Major motions pictures cost more than games to make( on the whole) have a smaller audience and you don't have to keep paying to unlock the final product!
so by your logic a game should not cost more than going to the movie theater. Yet here we are with the money grabbing games industry still hiking the prices. So £50 for a game is about 3 - 4 times what it should be.

And if you go to a movie theatre then you don't keep the product but do with games. Your entire analogy is flawed here as movies, in general, have a larger audience and further reaching distribution network. Films are a passive experience, games are not.

Roughly five to ten pounds more than brand newly released PS3 games? Surely worth the investment considering there aren't an awful lot of games to choose from this early in the next-gen console life.

As others have said you can sell the game or trade it in once you've had your fill.

Gaming is an expensive hobby. I agree that 6-hour single-player games should have lower pricing though. Then again it depends on the replayability etc.

Yup. Games are always expensive for the 6-12 months of a new consoles life.
They will drop to 360/PS3 prices soon.
