HASH(0x77414378) out of 5 stars A must have book for pruning fruiting plants. 16 Jan. 2015
By Joey E. Barnes - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
This is an excellent and well written book about pruning not only fruit trees but even berry bushes such as currents, raspberries, blackberries and gooseberries. I'm a beginner when it comes to pruning fruit trees and I found this book to have excellent pictures and diagrams on what to prune each year. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is just getting started or is on their way to learning how to prune fruit correctly.

HASH(0x774144b0) out of 5 stars "Pruning 101" 24 Nov. 2015
By Terry - Published on Amazon.com

This is a terrific book. I described it to a friend who is a master gardener, as "Pruning 101". She took a look at it, and wants a copy for Christmas. When my husband died 4 years ago, I took over his orchard's care. He put his heart and soul into it, but I was just the weeding and feeding labour. I got some practical pruning instruction from the local tree farmer, but because it's a yearly project, have to brush up on my skills before picking up the secateurs each winter. In addition to the usual fruit trees I have a kiwi and some figs as well as lots of soft fruits, and didn't know how to prune them. This book is clearly written, well illustrated, and one I can see getting "dog eared" with frequent use. This book truly deserves the high ratings it receives.

HASH(0x774106b4) out of 5 stars Lots of pictures and easy to understand directions 17 Feb. 2015

Lots of pictures and easy to understand directions. The most straight forward book on pruning I've seen. No fluff. Would recommend for those interested in growing non-standard shaped fruit trees. Pretty limited info on grapes.

This book has a lot of great pictures and is very simple and easy. It covers a lot of different types of plants. I think has a lot of good introductory information, but there are other books out there with more details that I found more useful and has pictures. The American Horticultural Society Pruning and Training by Christopher Brickell has more information on more plants with more details on how to do the work and is about the same cost. The pictures aren't as nice as this book though, but I like to have a little more information in my how to books. Some people prefer less information and more pictures, so this book would be a good one if that is your preference. I bought both books at the same time, and plan to return this one
