This item was delivered very quickly and appears a bargain, but I cannot recommend it for the following reasons:
1. The VGA output is slightly distorted, so your monitor looks fuzzy, darker and a slightly different colour. I was using twin monitors at 1280x1064, 60Hz and the effect was very irritating.
2. The TV output is sometimes not synchronised - you just get a series of bands. Reconnecting the power input seems to fix it, but it means you don't necessarily get a picture on booting-up.
3. Although its possible to adjust the TV position, brightness, etc, these settings are not retained when the unit is powered off. So every time you reboot you lose any settings.
4. Monitor power saving is not supported, so shutting down the PC leaves the monitor on.
5. There are two switches on the side of the unit. They're something to do with PAL v. NTSC, but the four possible settings are not explained.
So it works, but its not a practical solution for anything other than occasional and temporary use.

I have already reviewed this product in May giving it 4 stars,however after using it for the 4th time it has stopped working,just getting vertical coloured lines.I purchased the same item from a different manufacturer(looks exactly the same) and guess what.......it also has the same problem.I think it would be wise to go for a more expensive converter ?.

This is a great gadget and will be used constantly. It arrived promptly and works with both the TVs in the house, unless its an old TV its more than likely going to be fine.
Tip: If the TV has the wavy lines due to the wrong frequency just unplug the power from the box and plug it in again...seems to reset it.

Does not work with 50Hz TVs
It seems to be made for the US market and consequently video signal output seems to be based on 60Hz and frame rate accordingly. Read more

Rubbish DONT BUY!
Dont buy this item. When you plug it in all you get is lines of colours. Tried everything but no good. Recommend buying something more expensive.

It's cheap, but does what it said to do
The VGA to scart converter has its hick ups but works as it should. You can wach movies on a old telly coupled to a old PC using it as media player. Read more

Temperamental

Proxima - DO NOT BUY FROM PROXIMA!
The box doesn't work, and when you try and return the bo you get ZERO response from PROXIMA. Do yourself a favour and steer clear of this product and company.
