As the other review was about postage and delivery I thought I might as well write a review about the product.
I was advised by my vet to try Protexin Pro Fibre in my dog's diet to try to firm up his poo. He has problems with his anal glands in that I need to take him to the vetinary nurse every six weeks to have his anal sacks emptied to prevent infection at a cost of £15. (Not a pleasant job for the nurse!) If his poo was firmer the anal secretions would scent his poo as it comes out and so solve the problem of overflowing anal sacks. I was advised that I could purchase Pro Fibre from the vets but it would cost £17 or £18. She kindly let me know that I could purchase exactly the same product on the internet.
My 800g tub of Protexin Pro Fibre arrived in one tub in one delivery and still works out quite a bit cheaper than buying it from the vet.
But what, you ask, of the poo? Well... it's a bit firmer, the first one of the day anyway and I haven't had that awful whiff yet from his back end and the last time I went to get them checked the sacks were not full.
It is described as a palatable probiotic pellet and he wolfs it down with his food no problem, but there again he would eat absolutely anything and does, from bird seed to guinea pig poo.
The dosage is one 15g scoop (provided) for up to 20kg dog or cat, 2 scoops for 20-35 kg and 3 scoops for over 35kg. You can do the maths.
