4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent help for carers of abused children., 29 April 2000

This review is from: Protector's Handbook: Reducing the Risk of Child Sexual Abuse and Helping Children Recover (Women's Press Handbook) (Paperback)
This book is clear and concise and written for the ordinary parent or relation who finds themselves confronted with the care of a child who has been abused. There are examples of children who have disclosed abuse, and details about what was, and what was not, done to help them by those in authority. The author's thesis is that all non-abusing adults in such a child's life have a duty to be their active protectors. It explains exactly how to do this.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Protectors' Handbook by Gerrilyn Smith, 6 Feb 2008

This review is from: Protector's Handbook: Reducing the Risk of Child Sexual Abuse and Helping Children Recover (Women's Press Handbook) (Paperback)
As a parent, I found this book informative and helpful. The book empowers us to protect our precious children from sexual predators. It is well organized and easy to read. Every parent should read it even though I know we are all busy. Unfortunately, the predators count on our lack of awareness to the risk of child sexual abuse. This book directly deals with the issue of abuse and it is proactive in that it encourages "non-abusers" to be aware of and provide protection against child sexual abuse. I commend the author for sharing this information with us.
