During WWII, Atlantic convoys offered Britain a lifeline bringing food, munitions and other essentials. The Nazis realised Britain would be helpless without the convoys and so unleashed their U-Boat Wulf Packs and bomber fleets against them. Protecting the convoy became one of Britain's top priorities. Five films, made during wartime, depict life on board the Atlantic convoys, the weaponry and tactics used to protect them.

There are thousands of books, video's & DVD's covering various theatres of WW2, so it is good that the story of our Maritime Services is recorded. All supply convoys were in grave danger from enemy attack, especially from the submarine packs. The crews of the Royal and Merchant Navy, had enough to do coping with exceptionally rough weather in the first place. Everyone should be told about the conditions these heroes had to work and survive in, in order to bring the essential supplies to our country in time of war.

Interesting DVD,five films are featured all in black and white,if only the Germans had been that easy to fight, some of the scenes are of anti submarine training and make it look far more easy than it ever could be, others are of subjects not often seen, trawlers with barrage balloons out at sea,a lonely place to be i would think, but never mind you have the arrival of the ration tug to look forward to!.The trawler Comely Bank has one Vickers machine gun all to herself, extravagance gone wild, it may have put the wind up Jerry or made him laugh and so spoil his aim.A set of Films that show-if you look beyond the propaganda-a selfless generation to be proud of,not the best DVD about the war at sea, very much of its time but well worth the time spent watching it.
