I was looking for a small, light weight wind up lamp for my sons to use in their Khyam 2 man tent. The usual situation is that one or other of them leaves their torch on when they fall asleep and in the morning we have to by more batteries from the campsite shop. It got expensive. This lamp promised to be light enough for them to hang from the roof loop in their tent, and when they fell asleep with the light on it wouldn't matter.
Well we've used the lamp several times and it's worked well. The boys report that the light is good enough to work by, but not really to read by. I've used it at home and and I suppose in the house the lamp benefits from shining on a white ceiling. Perhaps a lighter tent interior would bounce the light around better, so the boys comments may be due to the green tent fabric in their tent. It's easy to wind and one minute of effort does indeed result in 20 minutes of light. The body is coated in soft touch rubber so it seems hard wearing . . . above all no batteries! Great value, and the product arrived on time too.

Great lantern. We tried it out when we lost power during the harsh weather. It was a god send.

So glad we purchased this especially during the bad weather with no power for two days. Produces good light.
We bought two of these lamps for camping. It takes a lot of work to wind it up enough so you can read a bit. If you want instant light, just to look for something in the tent, it was ok, but if you need light for any more than that, be prepared to vigourously winding for 2 minutes at least. Quite a workout in itself, which is not the best when you tumble back to the tenat after a few drinks. We still use them as there is not much else.
