Firstly, if you own a 2nd Generation iPod Touch - You WILL need a case, that's certain, and I can highly recommend this one! And although this case provides no physical screen protection, the shiny silver metal back is fully covered, which is just as well. The screen is protected though by the top of the case which is lined with alluminium (aircraft grade even). One thing I don't understand about this case is though, under the flap at the top of the case, a mirror slides out with a sticker saying "Calvary" on - random or what? Perhaps you could explain in the comments of this review?

Anyway, great item and great price. Packaging, just like the case is magnetized and very easy to crack open.

The case is as described, good quality and the best possible fit for my iPod Touch, although a little expensive, you get what you pay for. However, for iPod Users, it has one very big fault. The iPod has a light sensor just above the screen, that automatically adjusts the display brightness. The case as supplied obscures this sensor, so that the screen is always dark!!!(The iPod thinks it's in a dark place) Having seen the problem before with other cases, I punched a hole in the leather, using a hole punch, in the appropriate position and all is fine now. But I should not have had to do this, especially with a case of this value. I emailed the Manufacturer, with photo's showing the "hole" required and apart from an acknowledgement that I emailed, nothing has been done or said. Otherwise I would have given the case 5 stars. It looks smart and protects the iPod well, with no possibility of it "falling out".

I was looking for something to protect my ipodG3 whilst traveling, yet was really easy/quick to remove when placing it in a desk stand/speakers. This case is both of these as well as being a glove-like, secure fit...yet it doesn't interfere with any of the ports/controls or touch screen. Despite the aluminum plate, this case is super slim, well made, stylish and produced from quality materials.

The only possible protection you could add if you were paranoid would be a scratch protective film for the screen - but i would recommend making this a later purchase only if you thought it necessary...personally, i only intend to apply one incase i scratched it whilst outside the case.

I've heard of some disadvantages with both silicon and hardcases as far as shock absorption goes, but sandwiched between leather and aluminum is about as good as it gets!

I guess it depends on what your looking for in a case, but for my needs it's perfect and comes highly recommended.

Update: Reading the problem mentioned with covering the ipod's light sensor was puzzling, since id never noticed this problem at all! Under close attention, it appears the covered sensor does slightly dim the screen in certain lighting conditions, but for me, it has never been problematic or noticeable in practice ...checking out the other reviews to date, no-one even mentions it (& you can always adjust the brightness level and turn on/off the light sensitivity anyway). Plus, a needlessly brighter screen will certainly drain your battery faster - one less unsightly hole in my leather case is only a unexpected benefit - but that's just IMHO :)

After spending all that hard earned cash on the gorgeous i-pod touch don't skimp on a cheap & cheerful case. This case may be slightly dearer than some on the market but it is top quality and keeps the i-pod safe & sound with an aluminum strip covering the glass screen.

Never a truer saying in life as "You Get What You Pay For"

I have just got this case and I am delighted with it. I was looking for a case that wouldn't add too much bulk, would protect the iPod's screen when its not in use, but would still allow me to use the screen easily.

This fits the bill perfectly, the front cover contains a solid aluminium sheet so the screen is well protected. When the front cover is open the screen is uncovered so it can be used normally. Two magnets hold the cover in place effectively when closed.

The inside is lined with grey felt and the outside is black leather which looks great and feels nice in the hand. The stitching is discreet and looks like it will hold up well.

The front cover has a pouch on the inside which comes with a mirror inside - I don't have much use for a mirror myself but other people might find that useful. The cutouts allow access to all the sockets, on/off switch and volume rocker.

Overall the case looks very high quality and does the job well.

After looking for a case for my 2G touch, I decided to go for this one.
It's a very very well made case apart from 1 slight problem.

The area for the touch screen, whilst good, seems be be slightly smaller for the actual touchscreen itself. I found myself having to much the touch up a bit to access the bottom of the screen. This is more prominent when you are using safari and have to access the controls at the bottom of the screen.

Other than this slight problem, I'm very happy with this case and I'm still sure I made a good purchase.
