Reviews

Based on true events, this film tells of the life of cult leader Ervil LeBaron (Brian Dennehy), who believed that he was an emmisary of God's will, and that anyone who rebelled against his desires was rebelling against God himself. Such was the strength of his self-belief, he was able to order the death of his brother, simply because he defied his will. The job of bringing LeBaron to justice fell to Dan Fields (William Devane), but the lawman was shocked to discover the extent of LeBaron's pervasive influence.

Its a true movie, its about a bonkers cult leader and it stars the always great and menacing Brian Dennehy...those 3 pieces of information are all you need to decide if its your cup of tea or not.

Pure Mad 10 April 2010

A movie that stirs the inner senses that someone could control so many people and do what they want. This movie is worth watching and taken on its own merits as to your own opinion. I enjoyed the movie very much as I have a huge range of interest as to pictures for my collection to sit and watch.

Poor treatment of interesting subject 7 April 2010
By Toni Vest - Published on Amazon.com
Format: DVD Verified Purchase
This movie took a fascinating topic, and made it boring. The acting was bland, the screenplay was trite, and the directing was amateurish. It was a made for tv movie, that really wasn't even up to tv movie standards. At just a little over an hour, there was little time to develop the characters. I have read several books about this man, who was called 'The Morman Manson'. This should have been interesting, but I was bored after about 20 minutes. I only finished watching it because my husband wanted to see how it ended. He really didn't like it either though.
