This book will take you through seven simple steps to becoming a property millionaire. Unlike current books on the market, Property Tycoon offers a complete and incredibly revealing guide to EVERY aspect of residential property investment: including buying, managing, maintaining, financing and selling. It's the complete package, and written by a man who has made a success of UK property investment across 20-plus years and through two booms and busts.
Author and long-time property investor Ian Samuels reveals the secrets of:
- the questions every successful property investor asks themselves before buying a property
- how to secure capital for your investment properties
- where to get tradesmen, agents, mentors and tenants you can rely on
- what it takes to manage and maintain a property portfolio and how to take your portfolio to the next level when the time is right
- when to buy and sell, and how to make sure you get your way in auctions and off-plan deals.
With housing in ever-increasing demand in Great Britain, and values showing an average rise in value of 9% a year for the last 60 years, today represents a great opportunity for anyone interested in entering the buy-to-let world. 5.0 out of 5 stars Property Tycoon review 19 Jun 2014
By Kate
Format:Paperback
This is a very good book: it is clearly written, well-structured and easy to use. Property Tycoon is both an excellent overview and a guide to property investment. If you are interested in starting out in property this is an excellent starting place full of sound advice and information. It doesn’t make wild promises that you can be property tycoon overnight or without hard work and it is the better for that.
The author is an experienced, hands-on property investor who has worked his way up from scratch, so he knows what he is talking about and this is a real strength. He illustrates tricky points about finance, expansion or bad decisions with personal examples which make the points easier to understand and even entertaining. He also is able to emphasise details which a novice investor may overlook such as the importance of building a team around you or a reminder never to throw out paperwork as HMRC can ask to see 6 years of past accounts and will take a dim view if you’ve chucked it.
There is a lot of information here and it is well presented and explained in layman’s terms. The tables are clear and helpful, the analysis of finance, tax, good and bad debt are especially good with clear formulas given to help work out the best investment. There are neat lists to remind you what to ask everyone from tradesmen and tenants to agents, lawyers, accountants and developers.
Although a book like this can date, the author is aware of this and whenever necessary gives a link to sites which will provide current information on anything from legislation to house prices to tax.
A few more pluses which set the book apart from so many other guides. At no point does the author shout at readers with CAPITAL LETTERS. Nor does he overdo the exclamation mark!! And the writing is free from management speak – this man never ‘cascades’ when he can simply tell. Recommended

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Comprehensive Book! 24 May 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I have been thinking of investing in property for a number of years now and this book has helped me to feel confident enough about the issues involved to spur me to take the plunge! It is well written, broken down into digestible chunks and the straightforward language helps a beginner to really get the feel of what is involved. I particularly like the examples which help me to visualise what the various choices mean. If you are considering property investment yourself, I would highly recommend this book as it covers all the areas involved and outlines the many pitfalls and difficulties you may encounter with good, practical advice about how to avoid them.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Read! 29 May 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I bought this book as I had recently bought a couple of rental properties to let to friends/family to help them out but hadn't really considered it as a business, however after reading this book I now have a new plan. This book is a very easy read and has some excellent tips and advice on how to get started as well as how to build your portfolio which I am now looking at doing long term. I know I will be referring back to this book for guidance on my journey to becoming a property millionaire!!

Definitely worth a read :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book!!! 18 May 2014

If you're looking to find out how to become a property tycoon this is a great place to start. Even if you have been working in the industry for years this book still has something for everyone. You can tell that the author has real world experience in this field.

I think too often reviewers forget the price of what they are paying for. In my view if you can pick up 2-3 very useful tips, these could save you some big money so it has to be worth it. This book falls into that category. It is not a weighty tome or a property bible but for anyone interested in investing in property it has some useful tips. He has clearly owned dozens of properties in his time so he obviously knows a thing or two. Yes, some is common sense but we all occasionally need to have a message reiterated. Plus, I actually like his writing style. A few nice anecdotes and no awful grammar or spelling errors.

A decent overview of all the key things to think of when beginning as a property 'tycoon'. It's a good starting point to familiarise yourself with all the key terms and concepts but it definitely lacks any detail on all of these so don't buy if you already know a fair bit about the property world - unless you want a good reference point to check you've ticked all the boxes. It's nice and easy to read so you make progress quickly and feel more confident about what you're doing so it is worth buying for beginners to property.

I bought 'Property Tycoon' as I am interested in purchasing a couple of properties to rent out and keep for the long term. I recently read a couple of other property books but they didnt cover every aspect, from start to finish, including the financial stuff and certainly didnt have as much detail as this book. I would highly recommend this title to anyone interested in purchasing Buy-to-let property or anyone who already has a few properties and looking to increase their portfolio. A good read, well written.

5.0 out of 5 stars What's great is that there is no hype 20 Oct 2014
By Jayne
Format:Kindle Edition
One of the few books that talks about investing in property with a view to building a portfolio that will make you financially free. What's great is that there is no hype, no get rich quick urgency or promises of a bling-worthy lifestyle. It is tempered with realism, honest reflections and healthy dollops of common sense. This has the potential to become a classic in the realm of property books.
