Product Description

"Property Ladder: Designed for Profit" coincides with a brand new series of "Property Ladder" on Channel 4. Amid a highly competitive market, home-owners and property developers are looking for new ways to make the most of their investment. Whether the need is to release your property's potential in a cooling market, or you are renovating in order to let out or sell-on your home; if you have a growing family and changing needs from your home, this book is a must-have. Perfect for anyone with an eye for design who is simply sprucing up or designing from scratch, this takes you through the essential design dos and don'ts. Sarah has a wealth of tricks up her sleeve, from maximising awkward spaces to identifying key themes to apply to decor. In "Property Ladder: Designed for Profit", she pulls out all the stops in D.I.Y. and design, to prove a little bit of creativity goes a long way. "Property Ladder" includes all the design tools you need to design your home - from colour schemes and furniture to storage solutions, aspect and furniture. Packed full of case studies from a wide range of real-life projects, it reveals success stories along with examples of bad design and development failures and everything you should and shouldn't do.

About the Author

Sarah Beeny is a successful property developer in her own right who is well qualified to help novices run their own property businesses, and to aid the first-time buyer in their quest to get a toe-hold in the market place. She has hosted this highly successful format for the past five years, and become a household name in the UK for commonsense when buying property. Her guidance will be invaluable to our plucky first-time buyers as they strive to succeed in an ever-competitive market but will also be a boon to the property developer with financial acumen but no eye for design.

2.0 out of 5 stars A bit of a disappointment, 29 Jul 2009
The book is largely pictures, and has a very cursory look at each subject. You learn more watching the TV show.

If you're looking for a couple of pargraphs on things you could do to various aspects of your property then great.

If you're looking for detailed advice (which I was) then I would look elsewhere.

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware!, 13 Jun 2009
Beware, if you think this will educate you about property development, you'll be mistaken. It's a fairly superficial overview of interior design. Lots of photos of dream properties, but not much practical advice and not many references towards real life houses or flats.

2.0 out of 5 stars It's hammer time!, 20 Jun 2009
Sarah has written yet another book espousing what the common man or woman should have already thought about before entering any building project. So the need to produce a series or write another book is questionable at a time when repossesions are rising faster than a Warburtun's loaf. Having looked at the book it comes across as if it was ghost written for her, partly based on scripts and then cobbled together. The advice is fair but repetitive and sometimes so basic that it makes me wonder if she is preaching to the hard of understanding. What would have been better is for Sarah to ask a psychologist to sit with her and write a book about how individuals can overcome their ego's and learn to manage a project without the tantrums and tiaras shown on television; something on the lines of 'a long guide to short tempers'. Anyway I didn't enjoy the book and the only way to profit from property is to buy abroad in countries not affiliated to the EU. Afterall Turkey's done well thus far.
