This is a brilliant desk fan, very very quiet. This fan would also be ideal for a bedroom also.
I had been thinking about this for some while, but the cost put me off. Finally I bought it and
have not been sorry, a very good purchase.

This product, when unpackaged and out the box, looks lovely, and that's the main - if only - selling feature. The fan is very squat and compact, considerably smaller than other fans with the same blade size, and it looks extremely well made and robust. The fan has no grills on the front, so it is easy to clean. To keep the fan safe, the blades are made from a rigid rubber that is hard enough to retain its shape, but soft enough that it will not leave a mark should you accidentally slip your hand in when the fan is switched on.

A lot of people are complaining about the fan's alleged 'silent' running, and they seem to misinterpret the idea of 'silent'. No fan can ever be completely silent, there will always be quiet sound of airflow. What the manufacturers actually mean when they describe the fan as silent is that the motor is silent. As such, when a cheap fan is switched on, there may be a quiet hum or an annoying click from the motor, especially on higher settings. With this fan, the motor is silent, but you can still hear the airflow. That is impossible to prevent.

Saying that, few fans make a particularly loud hum nowadays anyway, and it seems that with even cheap fans, the noise of the airflow is often louder than the motor itself. It depends how fussy you are in this aspect.

Unfortunately, there are a string of bad points for this fan. Primarily, it should be noted that the fan has no speed settings. It is merely on-and-off. The on setting is also not that powerful. It is ideal if the fan is on your desk as you'll get a nice breeze without your papers flying everywhere, but if the fan is in the corner of the room then you will struggle to find much cooling effect from it.

The coverless front does have its draw backs too.

I bought this fan to use in the bedroom so specifically looked for something quiet. I dithered a bit before buying because it is expensive for something I will
probably only use a few weeks a year (even that's optimistic, I live in Scotland!). In the end I thought that better to spend more on something that does the job rather than get something cheaper that maybe wouldn't work as well. In the end I'm glad I did because this fits the bill really well. It is very quiet as promised without the annoying rattle of cheaper fans, as well as looking stylish. There is only one speed setting which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, but it is well made & should last me a good number of years. All in all it is worth the cost & I'm glad I went for it.

I have been using a fan which I found rather noisy. This fan is truly quiet. To the person fumbling under their desk for the switch, why not blutack the switch to the top of the desk, this will solve the problem.
