Nice, but not quite as complete as it claims! 17 Nov. 2011

I've been a collector of Process material for many years, and I was very excited when I heard that this book was going to come out. In fact, it was supposed to be the book that was to have been originally published a few years ago, but which became the 'Love Sex Fear Death' - inside story of The Process. So now we have this collection of the three 'best and most controversial issues' of The Process magazine, 'IN THEIR ENTIRETY', according to the claim on the back cover. First of all, I really like this book. It's been reasonably well printed in full color from what are arguably very scarce and rare original copies of the magazine. It has an informative interview with magazine designer Timothy Wyllie, and of course the Gods Of War essay, which can also be downloaded as an audio recording from the publisher's website. My problem is that I do have a couple of the original issues, one of which is reproduced in this book, the Sex Issue, and sadly the reproduction is incomplete. Now perhaps I'm being a tad petty as there are only 2 pages missing from that issue, but the pages include information on Process publications and protocols, albeit of a specific nature to the time of the original publication. However, I enjoy such minutiae and miss it not being there! While I don't have the other 2 issues reprinted I now have to wonder if they too are missing some content. I know my copy is not defective due to the page placement of the issue in question, so I have to wonder why the publisher makes an untrue claim right there on the back cover of what is otherwise a very exciting publication? Why leave this material out? Is it because most people wouldn't have access to the originals and therefore wouldn't know any better? If so then all I can say is boo. When you say you're going to give us complete material, please double check and make sure you are. I still think this is a worthwhile buy for those who have any interest in this group, but remember, it ain't 100%...it's just close. Maybe I'll just write it off as some kind of Process Conspiracy......
