Battle hardened listener of metal? Step this way and drown in the filth, this is extremely dirty death metal with any niceties of the genre stripped off and spat on.

The rhythm section rot through your speakers with just enough bounce to ensure a swift head banging stroke while the leads scream and hack at your very soul. The first few listens will probably be tests of endurance more than anything else. Still if you do survive you will realise that this album is a force of nature that you will want to take on again and again, getting satisfaction from each newly discovered nugget of subtlety amongst the chaotic swirl.

Those who like their Death metal ugly will find much to love here; perhaps even an album of the year, the rest would be better off running far, far away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Showing Us How It's Done, Death Metal Style 15 July 2014

As if Death Metal wasn't already 25+ years old, Dead Congregation take the crusty bones of the genre and adorn them with the chops of a band newly discovering the genre. Many times, death bands overuse tremolo picking and 16th notes as the basis of their sound but Dead Congregation know that true power lies in palm muting acumen. It's a great mix of Incantation, Immolation, Autopsy, and really early Cannibal Corpse that knows no quarter and respects no boundaries. The other trap that revitalized old school death bands have, is that they stay too true to the drumming styles that were popular at the time and forego blast beats simply because they weren't as prevalent in Death Metal's infancy. DC make the album sound how they want it to sound and don't feel the need to slow down to let you catch your breath, and good for them! Their blasting intensity sets them apart from the crop of old school death revivalists and makes an older sounding album ring true for today's extreme metal market. The result is an album that wouldn't be out of place 26 years ago, but can also stand next to Behemoth's The Satanist on the shelves and have just as heavy an impact. Promulgation of the Fall is like chicken noodle soup; recognizable, filling, and timelessly delicious! #GottahelpouttheGreeks
