This is a no nonsense approach to studying for part 1 and it focuses on what you need to know, as stated in the foreword. I used it (having tried blackstones books first - which I gave up on after one book......having found that too extensive to read!) as my main study guide and combined it with pass plus for questions and answers (which I certainly recommend to anyone). It worked, I passed first time this year. I also recommended this book to a few of my friends who also found it easier to study from to gain the basis of their knowledge. Try it, you won't be disappointed but as stated, combine it with questions pack. Good luck!

Well I was left feeling a little stupid and very nervous after signing up for my Sergeants exam after only 3 years until my sergeant mentioned this book and praised it so highly that I felt that he can't be wrong.
It is EXCELLENT works on the process of bitesized chunks of information and puts the information into a language that doesn't confuse or distance itself from the reader.
Don't get me wrong...Blackstones Manuals are a must and very well written and comprehensive but for the reader to interpret and understand, they are a little heavy going especially with four, massive seperate manuals that can each be used as door stops. It was a little intimidating opening my front door to find the delivery man straining under the weight of the box containing them all! Not to mention a great price compared to the discount my force are offering.
I have been told that Tom Barron does his version of the 4 manuals which are along the lines of this book, if they are as good as this then they are winners too!
