Product Description
Peter and the Wolf, Prokofievs musical fairy tale, has been delighting children since 1936. Nearly 60 years later, in 1995, the young choreographer Matthew Hart created a witty choreographed version for the Royal Ballet School with designs by Ian Spurling. Described as an utterly delightful ballet and a perfect showcase for the younger students, by the Royal Ballets Director, Monica Mason, it was staged again and recorded for this DVD in 2010.

An enchanting performance by the Royal Ballet School of Prokoviev's tale for children of all ages - and adults too! Excellent dancing, charming costumes, attractive music, and demonstration quality recording. Go and buy it!

This is an excellent dvd from the royal ballet. lots of colour wonderful costumes and the young dancers were superb.

This is very short length but at least it is slightly reduced in price. So is it good value?
I had great doubts about the value. The production itself had had good press reviews as a new ballet (I always check opera and ballet press reviews before buying new Blu-Rays) but I was not sure about its attraction for an adult.
I need not have had any worries as the ballet can work at both an adult and a child's level. In fact I am looking forward to sharing it with my grandchildren eventually.
The other video production (DVD) I would strongly recommend, also at two age levels, is the Abbado/Sting/Spitting Image & actors version on DGG which I have found to be very popular with all ages for several years now.
