I downloaded the demo on an iMac, to try out . I know where most so-called PM software fail : resources-scheduling with fixed milestones, so I tried that.
Merlin works really well, so I bought it.
Got the old version on DVD (nothing special there) and needed to convert a key to a license via the internet (very very weird and annoying ; why can't I use the key that is printed with the box ??)
Then did the major mistake to upgrade (via the "update" option in the software) to the latest version as I tried with the demo and things went wrong : software told me I had no license !
After 4 hours of trying and several emails to the support desk (excellent support and fast) I understood : the demo-version on my iMac was spotted by the software on my laptop through bonjour over the network ... and since both are same version (although 1 is demo and hence limited), the license manager says I do not have a license (really meaning I am starting a second instance on the network with same version and that hence the license-key is already used).
Shutting down the iMac solved the problem.
Makes me an annoyed user. And to be honest : it is only because I did support in my career that I wanted to be patient and not claim my money back immediately.
If I did not have pretty good IT skills, I would not have found the solution (and with thanks to the support)
Merlin guys : fix this !!!!
I would give you a 4 (or 5) stars for the application, but you loose stars because of this issue. I should give 2 actually...
