By Gordon
Format:VHS Tape
The title caught my eye when I first saw this film, the stars Matthew Broderick and Helen Hunt also, although at the time I could not have imagined what a powerful tale could have unfolded.
This is a touching tale of compassion between human and ape that we, the audience, can feel as if we are part of the chain of events. Feelings of resentment, sorrow and elation are also stirred amidst the events of the experimentation at the military base.
On discovering this film I just had to find a copy for my video collection and fourteen years later it is still fresh and up-to-date with great direction and sincere, believable action.

good eighties film 30 Aug 2005
Format:DVD
Matthew broderick and helen hunt star in this heart wrenching film.It starts off with Broderick being transfered to an an army research center to look after and teach chimpanzees to fly flight simulators, although not entirley keen with his placement at first he soon starts to develop an understanding and strong bond with the chimps. When he has a confrontation with a woman(Helen Hunt) who is protesting at the treatment of the animals does he start to realise the full extent of what the monkeys are being trained up for.A story of hope, courage and friendship this film can't help but keep you enthralled and entertained leaving you with a tear in your eye at the end of it.Well worth adding to your collection of films

Great family film 17 Oct 2008
Format:DVD
I loved this film, when I was around 7 or 8, and I remember it as a film that is just perfect for the family audience for one specific reason (it's been 20 years since I saw it, but I do remember this one aspect clearly) and that reason is that the story touches heavily upon animal rights, with the monkeys being used for experiments.

I remember it fondly and I cant wait to get my copy of the DVD home.
