For the price of a pint of beer you get a complete home reference library; 680MB of mostly plain vanilla txt files; 609 documents covering a vast range of books from a long stretch of history. Since they are all public-domain they are all dusty to some extent and some will only be of interest to scholars, however, most of the every-library-should-have-one standards are there: Dickens, Shakespeare, Cervantes, the bible,the ancients,the philosophers, the Russians... but also (for lighter reading) "the wind in the willows","the wizard of Oz", Mark Twain, Wodehouse,Leacock, W. S. Gilbert...
Not much science of course - Darwin, Huxley (and an avi of the Apollo moon landing!).
Several European languages crop up, there are odd files in Spanish,French, German and even one in each of: Bulgarian, Icelandic, Russian, Dutch, Latin, even Welsh. These latter might be grouped with other oddities like "Pi to a million decimal places", " the
Radio Amateur's Handbook", "An Icelandic Primer".
Plain vanilla txt doesn't support illustrations but there are html files for some illustrated books and for the special alphabet languages.
In keeping with the overall plain flavour the front end is minimal, no bells, whistles or graphics here, just html lists by author or title linking to the files.The directory structure is not obvious. I guess some work would be involved in putting all this on any e-book reader in some usable order. For Kindle - The txt files will copy direct to the Kindle; for illustrated html files - open with Open Office Writer and export as PDF then copy

Amazon Verified Purchase
The CD comes in a plastic wallet, sticker sealed, with a large sticker on the front with the name of it. Inside is a Lightscribed disc image of what looks like an old printing press. The content is hundreds of ebooks in plain vanilla ASCII text, and with images, in formats readable by all computers. £3 delivered is a bargain price. I'd buy it again if I needed to, or as a gift.

I bought this as a present, so, on the day of giving, it was duly inserted in to cd drive of a computer. For some reason that Pc decided, that the cd was empty, however, some time later, another computer was used and it opened fine. You can download all this stuff for free from the website. The whole idea of this was that if we didn't have internet for any reason we could read to our hearts content.
However, it isn't user friendly, you have to work hard to use it on your Kindle and as there is no format to the files, it makes it hard to read.
